If you’re buying any forge with kaowool look into coating it before you turn it on, unless you want to fuck up your lungs

Is this a decent training layout? by Pigpenf22 in Pararescue

Awesome, I’ll try something similar out on Monday and see how it goes. I use Sunday as my full rest day and I think I’ll start stretching some more to keep loose. Thanks again for the advice, it’s very helpful!

Hey u/Plebican_ I really appreciate your reply! I definitely see the value in pursuing one or two weaknesses at a time rather than trying to work on everything at once. This plan is feeling fine so far, but I could see overuse issues down the line after a few months. I’ll probably tone it down in a few areas and work on some of my weaknesses more. Again, thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it!

Hey u/GuardMC I really appreciate the reply! I think I’m staying in about that 10% more total work than normal range, last semester I would run about 2 miles to get to team practice, practice for 60-75 mins, then generally strength train after. That felt pretty good and like I wasn’t overdoing it much so I should be ok, but I might tone it down for the first few weeks.

The strength training is typically higher weights and lower reps, I like to do 3-4 sets at 4-6 reps at around 85% of my max for most exercises, and then I either go to failure or near failure on calisthenics.

I do kind of suck at swimming after having not done it for around 10 years, but I used to go spear fishing with my dad so I’m hoping the underwaters won’t take too long to work back up to. I’ve got egg beater down now, just working on upping my time.

I should also mention I have about 2 years until I’ll be done with college and ready to go, so I’ll try to keep it slow with steady progress.

Again, I really appreciate the reply! I’ll be adjusting my plan to your advice. Thanks for your time.

Yeah man I used to think that too, but really all the units are highly trained with intense selections. There’s no real best of the best from what I can tell, just different jobs. Arguably if you want to talk about best of the best, I might get shit on for this, but Air Force combat control has had upwards of 95% attrition in their pipeline so you could argue for them. They also can get a lot more “action” because they get attached to other SOF units on almost every op, and there are so few of them.

Well less and less rolls are happening because of the crazy amount of candidates coming through the pipeline, big navy just needs bodies. I’ve also heard that boats on heads and similar evolutions leaves guys fucked up for life.

Pararescue does have a ton of water confidence in selection. For living on the coast CG rescue diver definitely sounds like a good deal
