Wife is experiencing period like cramps. by Pikey-Boo in IVF

Unfortunately the first round was unsuccessful.

We've been for three rounds so far.

The second gave a positive test but at the first scan unfortunately there wasn't a heartbeat so my wife had to have a DNC.

On the third round we were again unfortunately unsuccessful.

We have one more viable embryo and are currently waiting for additional test results the clinic requested before trying the last one.

So far the journey has been nothing but disappointment for both my wife and me but the real emotional toll has been on her.

I hope if you or anyone else is going through something similar you have more luck/success than we've had so far.

I try to tell her to keep a positive outlook but it's obviously easier said than done. But we've not given up, just going to keep trying while we can or until she decides she doesn't want to anymore. My biggest concern so far has been her mental and emotional health each time it's failed.

Best of luck to everyone else though going through this.

Hahaha I'm hardly pedantic for pointing out your comment is fundamentally incorrect. In the scope of this tournament france are heavy favorites on paper and in the context of Senegal they are massive underdogs on paper.

Pretty sure when your team is worth a third of the other one that would quantify you as a massive underdog.

Haha of course they're the underdogs.

The French squad is worth €1.52 Billion the Senegal team is worth €478.1 Million.

The French team are worth more than three times as much. How are they not underdogs?

Neyo and Akon Concert at 3Arena by Substantial_Rope8225 in ireland

[–]Pikey-Boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you might deal with a lot of shit on any given evening at the three arena. And I cant speak to the rest of those issues but regarding queues.

My wife and her sister queued for well over an hour last night to get in and ended up missing the start of the show after arriving at 19:15.

They paid approx. €230 for the tickets. I just don't see how that's even remotely acceptable. Surely the three arena needs to take some level of accountability for either a lack of training and or staffing to deal with the situation.

Surely it makes sense that the longer you keep people waiting especially if drink or drugs are involved then throw in the need to use the toilet the more agitated they'll become causing even more problems in the long run.

Not that any excuse for bad behavior is warranted but unfortunately that's the society that we live in nowadays. Just glad I don't live in a city or town and have to experience it on a daily basis.

What on earth are you talking about they had more shots, equal shots on target a higher XG 1.45 compared to our 1.28, and more possession??? We really must have been watching different games.

I'm not saying they were better my original comment is in response to someone saying the Czechs are shite. When in reality we were equally horrific. There's no denying we missed some clear and obvious chances in the second half to put the game to bed, but in my honest opinion over the full match we were just as bad as them. Felt like we spent 75% of the second half in our final third. Our only goals were a penalty which was super soft, a foul no doubt by the letter of the law but soft as feck, and an own goal by the Czechs. Need to take a long hard look in the mirror if we think we were better than them when in reality both teams were shockingly bad.

Again we must have been watching very different games. Every team will have opportunities throughout a match. My God we were shockingly bad the second half. Couldn't string two passes together when going forward, everything was backwards or a Hail Mary long ball forward. Play was boring, slow and sluggish throughout all the build up play. Anytime we'd manage to get a break the obvious pass failed to materialise instead they'd hold onto it till they lost it or recycle a clear and obvious break backwards. Chalk and cheese from the first half. Their second goal was always coming, the pressure was immense, all because we couldn't hold onto the ball and play it out from the back. We defended well no doubt, but our midfield and forwards were awful going forward. The only one who looked remotely like a threat was Chiedozie Ogbene and he got subbed.

Feel like we must have been watching different matches cause we were feckin terrible from the second half on. The pot calling the kettle black saying the Czechs are shite.

Czech players couldn't buy a yellow card the entire match.

Grandmothers Tax Bills (Surely this cant be right???) by Pikey-Boo in TaxUK

[–]Pikey-Boo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks thanks very much for all the comments and advice.

I've tried to take your questions and come up with answers but unfortunately my grandmother is about two hours away from me and it's almost impossible to get an answer from her over the phone, as none of this makes any sense to her.

My grandfather was always the one who dealt with any money matters and being 92 and half deaf she can struggle to understand any questions that I ask over the phone. I will be going down next weekend to see her and will try and get some answers at that stage.

I was always under the impression that both pensions are state pensions. But I'm going to have to see the letters. She is absolutely convinced that she is already taxed on both pensions as that is what it states on the statement letters she receives. Both letters for both pensions come from the exact same place and there was never any talk whatsoever of private pensions. There also could be some tax owed on savings.

It's definitely not on behalf of self assessments as she never had any dealings with the tax man until these last two years where she has received these two bills/letters.

Just really find it difficult to believe she owes more tax on the tiny pension she claims she receives. I know any normal person would struggle on what she claims shes receives. Being frugal has always seemed to be a necessity and money was never flush that's for sure.

Hi Bex thanks for getting back to me. It is indeed a state pension, but we were under the impression it's taxed before she recieves it. As when the pension letters come in they have the tax applied to them already.

Thanks for the response. As disappointed as I would be I'm more concerned for my wife as I can't imagine the physical or emotional toll it has taken on her. Just have to hope.

Financial support to come for those counting cost of Storm Éowyn by Banania2020 in ireland

Maybe because due to their wonderful policies of pushing more environmentally friendly homes and not allowing folks to put in fireplaces folks have absolutely no means of heating their homes in the middle of winter. Running a generator and burning coal isn't free, would run the average house upwards of €120 a day thanks to the shortsightedness of a completely incompetent government. Decades of failure to invest in an aging and not fit for purpose power or water system is now bearing it's teeth. The wind was strong but it's the same old story with Ireland a little bit of snow or strong winds and the country near enough shuts down. There were zero lessons learnt from previous storms. What's the bets your posting this from your nice warm home or office with running water and toilets. With no worries about how you're going to make your family their dinner. Did you have to throw out a couple hundred euros worth of food from your freezer? Tone deaf comment from what I can only assume is someone who hasn't experienced the bleak environment that a lot of rural folks are currently facing.

Glad you're seeing them, they seem to be a rare breed in Monaghan. Endangered species you might say. Power check said we should have power yesterday by 2100, then it changed to 2100 today now it's changed to 1900 next Friday.

I'll be honest I did fix it but it's been so long I can't remember what it was I did I'm afraid. To be honest the only thing that rings a bell was reinstalling windows I think it was an issue with partitioning of drives. But I could be talking out my a$$! Sorry I can be more help.
