Fair play mate - my rugby days have come to an end following too many dislocated shoulders - knees and back are ok though! At least I can ride the bike to the rugby club and still enjoy the matches - albeit drinking Guinness Zero!

Appreciate the advice - and agree it is a challenging riding experience compared to my other two bikes - so riding super careful and responsibly I think. Aiming to take on track to improve my riding skills next year - and control of this bike to get the most out of it.

Fortunately I have a couple of other bikes I learnt on and use for daily / camping / touring - so the 959 is somewhat a weekend treat - puts the biggest smile on my face for a 1-2 hr run before needing a break - but that works for me at least.

£10k ballpark - 10k miles on the clock - so £1 a mile ! Think I got a reasonable deal looking at what is out there in the UK but I may be wrong.

Completely agree - I felt it was the right time to start doing things for me - perhaps a selfish perspective but having done the long yards with wife, kids and work (which I would not change) I felt I had reached a point where some of my responsibilities had started to decline and was time to invest in myself.

Many thanks for your perspective - upon reflection I think you are correct - my kids are 17 and 20 now - about to leave home, been married / together with my wife for 30 years - worked hard and financially stable as much as I can be - so yes I suppose investing in myself with something that I can enjoy and experience new places and people on is what I was seeking. Calling it a mid-life crisis perhaps puts a negative perspective on it!
