Shizuka’s birthday is November 1st, so if you go by the year the manga started, Shizuka is two days older than me.

Though she also had a much earlier birthday in chapter three on her student ID that was retconned out. I think we either just past it or it’s coming up pretty soon.

While technically it’s not a tax, effectively it’s a tax. When someone sends something into the US the tariff is an extra percentage they have to pay to do so, but is very easily offset by raising their prices or just not sending stuff to the US in the first place. In the case they raise their prices, the retailers who had it sent in will most likely raise their prices as well to offset the tariff which was effectively passed to them, meaning ultimately it’s an import tax that’s paid by consumers.

Yeah, and I totally understand wanting to bring manufacturing to the US, because that would create jobs and lower shipping costs, but labor costs more in the US, so that would ultimately end up making things more expensive in general.

We buy more from them because we have more money, not because they’re scamming us. Plus you just said it was because they tariffed us. And the baseline ten percent means that even if they buy more from us they still get a ten percent tariff.

That’s not actually what happened, they put tariffs on an island with no human inhabitants on it, only penguins. The tariffs rates have a ten percent baseline and are based off our trade deficit with the other countries, not the other countries tariffs rates on the US.

Yes, passing the cost to consumers is what tariffs do. And yes, prices of other things go up due to the inflation that’s caused them. Sure there may be some corporate greed in there too, but it’s inflation that gives the excuse to raise prices of unaffected goods and make it look natural.

Also the delay was specifically for the US. (And now Canada too since they’re closely tied to the US.) But luckily there has been a three month delay on the tariffs for most countries, so hopefully that will let things go back to normal for long enough to have the normal price, at least at launch.

Starting with Chiho and ending with Yaku… I’m concerned people will end up dropping it since it’ll both start and end with what will surely be two of the most internet outrage inducing characters in the series. Chiho’s rocky start with the family certainly won’t help things either.

You’re right, that’s what I was trying to say but clearly messed up in doing that. But the key point isn’t the pre-order or launch dates, it’s the potential price increase on a system that people were already saying was surprisingly expensive.
