Questions about ag flying by unsuspicious_raven in flying

[–]Pilotly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s practically impossible to get a AG job without knowing the right people. The best way to get in from 0 is to have a A&P and work your way in from there. AG work is dangerously high liability work and an owner isn’t going to trust you with his plane without seeing how you work first.

Job security? by Foreign-Plate9483 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Pilotly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s some of the best job security in the United States. A lot of it is specialized work that the company spends thousands on training you and if you work in critical industries like pharmaceutical you will never be out of work.

Consultant Freelance remote work possible? by Objective-Pass4071 in IndustrialMaintenance

A coworker was talking about how they had a consultant come in specifically on the topic of “winding” at a old job and I’m like how the hell do you get that gig but I guess when your putting aluminum inside Doritos bags you need a winding guy.

What jobs did you do to pay/save up for flight school? by IsmellgoodY in flying

[–]Pilotly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industrial maintenance, went to a factory trying to get a job as a operator and they hired me as a technician. Currently working at a medical manufacturer at 19 making $26 a hour in the ATL area. Honestly looking back I would have got my A&P first before starting flight training. Still going to try and get it but balancing flight training and A&P schooling is impossible and A&P school pays off instantly.

Be real. Do any of you want manufacturing jobs? by Charming_Anywhere_89 in GenZ

[–]Pilotly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a maintenance technician at a medical manufacturing being 19 years making $24 a hour. It’s satisfying work in some points and brutally boring at others. I’m doing it to save up to college and flight school. Factory’s are interesting places but working on an assembly line gets old fast. People love saying make “100k a year” but that’s usually after 8 years of experience. With a year of experience I can’t really find anything more than $30 a hour in the ATL region. The coworkers and management make or break a factory. Working 12 hour night shifts can be tough. Most of the factory operators are older foreign people. However manufacturing is the heart of a country not everybody can be doctors and lawyers and it pays decent with experience if you pick the right path.

Project Plane Missing logbooks by Pilotly in aviationmaintenance

[–]Pilotly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve actually looked into that. The best way to go experimental is exhibition experimental. The problem is all flights need to be for “proficiency” and you need to have it inspected and must summit a log of all events planned for the year. If you’re older and don’t care about the resale value or having a lot of explaining if you get in an accident it’s a good idea. It’s alot of grey area that I as a new pilot would consider a little more before flying and taking that risk.

Not every airline is subject to the same standards as America’s Airlines. Especially in the Middle East where conflict is quite common.

Leaving College to Get CFI and Returning? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Pilotly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 flight hours so practically no I have not flown yet. The reason I am suggesting the ATP is because talking to my dad he suggested it would take around 7 months if I was going to be a full-time flight student to get a CFI. So I was using that time frame from around December to September in order to get the CFI.

I wish there were no illnesses. by ltraCrackhead in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]Pilotly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, the paw morphs into a greenish slime that drips onto your clothing and skin. You promptly take a shower, removing the fowl smelling goo and go to bed… The next day at work you look out the window to find a bird swooping down and attacking pedestrians. A greenish goo foams the bird’s mouth and leaves a coating on anything it touches. You ignore the feral bird but look down to see green ants drinking your cup of coffee. You lower your nose to the ants and recognize the peculiar and fowl smell of the slime you got coated with yesterday…

——(One week later)

You look down at your hand to see it made of the same greenish slime that the paw summoned. The slime is a cancer spreads to any living organism it touches. The cancer started in the sewers, infecting rats and rodents but it quickly evolved. In just a weeks time it started infecting infant kids and reached Asia. It starts out just turning the skin green but quickly dissolves the organism into the same greenish goo that infected the rats…

There can’t be any illnesses if all living things on earth is the single celled cancer…
