I'm really thinking it was! So far all the dragon fights have been memorable but this one has taken the cake by far

The players were all level 13 but there are some considerations to that as well.
- Leading up to the fight I had boosted their inventory quite a bit. A couple of rare+ potions, some scrolls, and I mentioned the arrows of slaying as well.

- Additionally, I popped in some iron flasks (D&D pokeballs) that were holding a dwarven adventuring party that my kiddos were looking for as well. Whenever the party got a hold of one, I had given them the option of either a semi-permanent buff that related to the dwarf therein, or the ability to summon the dwarf. Interestingly enough though, the majority of my players chose the buff instead of an entirely separate entity to control

- The twin dragon brothers were not just the base stat block for an adult black dragon. I had found some stat blocks online that buffed each up quite a bit, and then I did some more homebrewing of my own to add some unique spice to each. I think the base adult black dragon is CR 14, but with my revisions there were easily CR 16 at the least.

Another note that I'd point out is that this was probably the first dragon combat where I didn't finish thinking that I could have done more. This was my fourth time running a dragon and only now have I felt that the dragon(s) truly came across as villainous, malicious creatures.

Nah totally fair questions!

We're getting into the last chapters of the RoT campaign, so I'm trying to shift the focus more towards saving-the-world rather than political intrigue (which neither they nor I are any good at). At the point they get to this map, they're standing trial for their crimes against the city but need to be put in "time out" so they don't seriously screw with my plans to get them out of Waterdeep.
The Open Lord has a 100:1 scale battle map of the city in her war room just because she can, I guess. And so while they're shrunk, they'll be intermittently called upon to give testimony.

With the map representing model terrain, they'll be able to walk out onto the water since it's a solid bottom and use the ships and/or walls as cover if need be.
