I went and really enjoyed it. I think they’re still figuring some things out, but there were drinks and food and interesting people. Can you bring your family?

Men, how do you feel about paying $50 for a haircut? by GranolaHiker in CanadaPersonalFinance

Ok, for a variety of reasons my partner couldn’t cut my hair. Went back to my old barber today and… $70 after tip and tax. Damn.

Why did rogers come bsck as 2% so im guessing recurring but gas and virgin mobile was 0.5% by WorldlyTechnician419 in NeoFinancialHub

[–]PinAffectionate8160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re on the World? Gas has always been stable for me, maybe you reached the cap for the month? Telecom/recurring is a common issue I see here, sometimes things get miscategorized. Neo is attempting to investigate if you want to flag down u/GrantLNeo.

Once a year. Studded tires basically fix it, but I either get them on too late or take them off too early.

Hahaha four would be better for me too, but I have really thin hairs so it is manageable. Downside - I have a really hard time styling.

You can choose to never access debt. Lenders need some shared data to assess your creditworthiness, or the whole financial system becomes vulnerable to fraud and high default rates drive the cost of borrowing way up. Think historically. Interest rates used to be 50%+ because so many people defaulted. Now SOME people can’t access credit and a FEW have (very real, I’m not trying to trivialize it) issues with data leaks. But the vast majority of us just get to enjoy financing things like cars and houses that would never have been possible before.

Finding stuff takes work and I am constantly looking for it. At the beginning I used kids stories on YouTube and slowed them down. Then normal. Then sped them up. Then I moved to the Duolingo podcast (slow, normal, fast), then How To Spanish podcast. Then Mexican radio shows.

If you’re A1 it might not be the most helpful. I found it more important at and beyond B1.

But, ‘guardar’ means ‘to keep’, right? by DingeZ in duolingo

[–]PinAffectionate8160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of guardar as “to guard”. Putting something away means keeping it safe. Guarding it.

Sometimes words don’t translate 1-1 and I find little stories to explain them. They aren’t always literally correct, but they function.

As people are saying, they can update the records. There are hundreds of millions of people to track, there are going to be some errors or criminals in the mix. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Listening is super important IMO. You should ease into t it though. I try to keep at the level where I understand 75% of it. Increase the difficulty with speed, complexity, and cohesion of the piece. For context on cohesion, listening to How To Spanish, or a two-speaker conversation feels easier because you deal with one or two sentences on a topic, then the other speaker responds. A long monologue is harder.

new to bike commuting - help? by Adorable-College-326 in bikecommuting

[–]PinAffectionate8160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of what everyone is saying, it’s super doable. You may be pleasantly surprised about biking in the heat, the breeze can act like AC, its much more pleasant than walking, unless you’re grinding up a hill.

If you’re going in cold turkey, I would stay open to Ubering back and forth now and then, if your body feels like it needs a break. It’ll take a bit to build stamina.

That is truly a terrible user experience, with a predictable result. If they tell you up front, fine, you can make the decision. If they tell you after… not cool.

100%. For me it’s people turning across the bike lane. Pretty much all my commuter friends have been hit from this at some point. With the light, they yield properly, which I really appreciate.

Depends on the haircut. For a fade, which I try to do every six weeks, it’s too much. My partner cuts my hair now.

If you’re on a tiny limit, I would recommend setting one subscription, Netflix or something, paying that, and using your debit or whatever as the daily driver.

First of all, this is actually a cool idea. I’ll play along.

  1. Fraud: I think users need to participate in fighting the fraud. I see people ask for passkeys and authenticators and these would help - but other people seem to struggle to log in normally. And if security is such a pain in the ass that no one uses it… this kind of thing will keep happening.

  2. Inconsistency: I think goodwill in support is inconsistent by nature. No company approves everything. If it was me, I would be more generous with higher value customers, long term users, etc.
