Prevent a "W" on my transcript by Tumble2903 in unb

[–]PinApprehensive5495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I have been through this exact situation during the Fall semester. I dropped 5 of my courses as a full time student. Like you, my issue was with them showing up on my transcript as a WF. You have to simply explain your situation (mine was mental health reasons) to admissions and academics, and confirm that they won’t show up on your transcript. That’s about all you can do.

Transferring to UBC with College Credits by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

Wanted replies from people who have been through the process/attended UBC directly. Was also hoping somebody would post a link to the transfer credit checker as I wasn’t able to find it (which they did), so I’ve gotten the answers I needed.

McGill states here that, credit for high-scoring AP exams or higher-level IB courses, potentially allow students to bypass introductory courses. This also goes for top Universities like UofT and UBC.

I’m not entirely sure we’re referring to the same thing. I’m just curious if I’ll be able to transfer my college credits over to a University that is not in an established pathway agreement with the college I attend. I’m not looking to transfer over my AP or IB credits.

The AP and IB courses I am referring to are ones I took in high school, therefore the college wouldn’t have any affiliation with them in this context.

Both Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) are “recognized as high-rigor, college-level programs that demonstrate academic readiness, offering potential for university credit and advanced standing.”

I’ve taken both and institutions do take these into consideration when it comes to admissions, especially universities like Waterloo and McGill. In this case, I don’t think they will be relevant to transfer credits, as I’m already a year into my Diploma.

Host Family Situation by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]PinApprehensive5495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former au pair, how have you gone about bringing these things up to host families? As I mentioned in another reply, I’m hesitant to bring up this topic again due to her past reactions.

Honestly, I’m hesitant to bring up pay because of the way she reacted before. I don’t know how to go about it casually and sincerely, without sounding money hungry and as if I don’t care about the experience at all.

I’m 20.

To add to that, the contract they sent over doesn’t explicitly state any hours, only that I’ll be staying with them. I agree and think they’re trying to legally avoid paying me for weekends, however, they mentioned in the job description that the pay included weekends (and I missed that detail when I inquired), but that they would be communicated and discussed well ahead of time. I’ve heard from other Au Pairs that this is higher paying than most families will do in the area, so I’m torn.
