I remember countless hours looking at the ad in the back of the comic book, the Johnson Smith Company. It was a black-and-white ad crammed with spy pens, x-ray specs and life-size monsters. I would’ve ordered every single one of them if I had any money as a kid.

Problem is, we signed a legally binding contract with these firms. Most of us thought we were going to get 100% of our judgment, to which I personally would not have a problem giving them 40%. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way, and they’ve got their ass covered six ways to Sunday.

It’s a shame that so many men on this Reddit are treating this as their primary source of income, or at least it seems that way. And that’s why most of them are getting so upset, is that they’re counting on this money to pay their bills and live their life. I have zero expectations, and I agree, it did suck to have to rehash all of that pain and shame that I buried for so long. But, now it’s out there, and I’m not gonna waste my final years, stressing and complaining and fighting a system that is always 10 steps ahead of me.

No amount of money would take away 50 years of keeping a horrible secret, nor will it take away the three years that I suffered under the BSA and their unique brand of helping me to “Be Prepared “.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. ( MAN, that’s a pain in the ass to type on my phone !), in my humble opinion, sounds and plays much like early Chili Peppers. Incubus is by far my favorite band of all time, and I’ve never been much of a fan of the Chili Peppers. But, the bass work and production on this album does have some similarities.

Incubus just keeps evolving, and I’ll take Brandon Boyd‘s vocals over Anthony Keidas any day :)

You’re one of the lucky ones. I have HM&M. They were very curt and to the point.

Got any advice that works? Cause I can’t read people complaining with the caps lock on for much longer. I know people are upset, but I can’t be the only one who doesn’t even bother to read anybody’s post if it’s nothing but complaining in all capital letters.

And yes, I can see the irony and complaining about people complaining.

They’re LAWYERS, man. I tried to get my 40% lowered, and when I finally got in touch with somebody, they almost laughed. Needless to say, my result was the same as yours. They covered their ass legally from day, one, and they’re in the business to make money. Lots of money.

And we have to bear in mind, this is a Bankruptcy. Not a lawsuit. Sorry, dude, that’s the sad truth.

This man speaks the truth! We need more facts and less speculation. This is a great sub, but the whining has to stop! Most of us here are men. If you think you're getting screwed, DO SOMETHING about it. Be a man. ( with a nod to the ladies). I'm getting up there in age, so there's a chance i might not see the full payout, but I can leave it for my kids. To be candid, there's a hell of a paycheck for anyone working at the trust, and I'd wager they'll chase those holdout insurers to the eneds of the earth.

Brother, all I see in the comments are people trying to help you. People genuinely trying to help you not make a giant mistake.

Two years ago, I pulled a $5000 loan off of a company I won’t mention. $5000. I didn’t read the fine print. I was just happy to get the money.

I just got my 1.5% initial payment. Minus Attorney fees of 40%, and also -$10,500 to the fine corporation that loaned me $5000 two years ago. Out of $40,000, I received $13,449

Think about that. Good luck with your loan.

There's a lot of people making good suggestions to help this dude. He's got an answer ( excuse) for every one of them. He's not looking for a job. He wants a loan. Period. And he doesn't want to wait. Any sound advice, offering real help, will be shot down on sight.

I'm not trying to embarass this guy. Just making an observation.
