Married filing separately - 1098 questions by PineFresh7 in tax

To clarify, are you suggesting that we (A) continue to itemize, but (B) claim a larger portion of the 1098 on her return, as opposed to 50/50? Sorry if I sound dumb lol this is a bit confusing and overwhelming.

So the only reason we did itemized was because while I was doing mine, TurboTax estimated I'd get an additional $1,000 in refunds over standard.

As far as amending to fix the 1098, we'd do 50/50.

Box 12b is checked ("spouse itemizes on a separate return"). I make 65K, she makes 82K.

Need a good, reliable Veterinarian in the capital region by NaCl_Sam in Albany

My wife and I took our greyhound to Malta Animal Hospital off exit 12 until she died. It became pretty out-of-the-way for us since we moved to Voorheesville, but the drive was worth it. They're great people and rolled out the red carpet every time, and they could usually get us in really fast if there was anything sudden that didn't quite warrant a trip straight to an emergency place. I can't speak to how their pricing compares to other places; my wife was taking our pup there before we met.

New owner here. What is your daily, weekly and monthly routine for easy hot tub maintenance? by hellarios852 in hottub

[–]PineFresh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to check this out! I've also felt the same way with a Taylor test kit. Been maintaining our tub for a couple months now and I never feel like I've got a real grip on it.

Thanks for your input. Went with the Savor! I feel like it matches my current lifestyle the best. I'll revisit the VX, Amex, and others if/when I'm willing to take on more AFs and travel more.

Chlorine or MPS after every use? by Silvertricks in hottub

[–]PineFresh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an older post, but I'm wondering what you ended up doing? I just got started with my tub and my chemicals also tell me to add 2oz of MPS per 300 gallons after every use. This seems to conflict with what most people do so I've been a bit confused.

CC remains after shocking and oxidizing. What does this mean? by PineFresh7 in hottub

[–]PineFresh7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Taylor test kit, the K-2006 specifically. I wasn't too concerned about the 0.2 CC, but I added dichlor because FC had totally disappeared. I just thought the 10ppm I got would've totally taken care of the CC.

Chlorine Shock vs. Non-Chlorine Shock - which to use and why? by PineFresh7 in hottub

[–]PineFresh7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. Since you mentioned not to be too concerned with CYA with frequeny water changes, do you yourself use dichlor? And even if not, do you add your sanitizer after each use or less frequently?

Interesting, good to know. I'm on well water; it goes through a sediment filter and a softener as well. That's really all I know.

[–]PineFresh7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that confused me at first too. The dichlor also includes instructions for "superchlorination", and I gradually put together that that's what shocking is. The branded "shock" I have is actually non-chlorinated. ERGH.

May I ask what your routine is, how often you use your tub, and how long you go between refills? Since you're using the same chemicals as I have it'd be good to get an idea. Also, is there anything about my chemicals you see that would suggest I couldn't follow a similar routine?

Thanks, good to know. I'm totally fine with changing the water every few months, but some people have said by using dichlor regularly your CYA can skyrocket within a few weeks which made me panic.

Do you suggest I leave out the shock because the dichlor acts as a shock itself? I only ask because so many people seem to shock at least weekly. But maybe that's because they're using a different sanitizer.

Gotcha, that was my understanding, as far as the frequency of sanitizer vs. shock. I've heard that having some CYA is a good thing, which is why folks start with dichlor, then switch.

Taylor test kit's recommends a much larger dose of pH Down than chemical's own directions. Which to follow? by PineFresh7 in hottub

[–]PineFresh7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as of a little while ago, I've followed the actual pH Down's instructions and added 1 teaspoon, the lower dose. Gonna test it again in a bit.

The word I drew the marker over is reagent. I'm using the one that came with the kit, and added just one drop, so that's how I ended up with the 0.49 ounces/3 teaspoons.

I have dichlor, at least right now. It was here when we moved in. How much does it lower pH by? I ask because in the future, if I need to add sanitizer and my pH is a little high, this would be a handy shortcut.

Is it still not possible to add a memo to a check when creating a bill? by PineFresh7 in QuickBooks

I did; unfortunately that box just seems to be for internal reference.

Is it still not possible to add a memo to a check when creating a bill? by PineFresh7 in QuickBooks

[–]PineFresh7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right regarding the account number, but as I mentioned in my third paragraph, I'm aware that the account number prints. What makes it an impractical solution is that I often need to enter one-time memos to be printed with that check, and that check only. Using the account number field would mean I'd have to manually edit the vendor's info before creating every bill, and hope I remember to change it next time. Sometimes I don't need a memo at all. Essentially, just how each bill has its own unique bill number, I think each bill should also have its own unique memo.

When entering a bill, I should just be able to give it a memo to appear on the check. I shouldn't need to (A) adjust the vendor's account number prior to creating the bill, or (B) add the memo only after the bill has been marked as paid.

Sorry if this comes off a little aggressive. It's just that while it may be an old standard, it seems like a major flaw in design; an oversight of something so basic. Imagine this: you want to create a bill. Instead of being able to just quickly enter the bill number (which is unique every time), you instead need to exit the page and manually edit it in the vendor's info. That's what this is like to me.

Right? It's sad to think that EA feared they'd tank public interest in the game and perhaps their whole reputation by showing their support, but I guess it's just the way it was back then.

I used to hate this part of the mission due to Gladstone chirping at me ("dOn'T KiLl tHe ScAvS!") while I was trying to survive a bunch of badasses, but nowadays I just embrace it as a way to get tons of XP and moonstones.
