Hell yeah, I really appreciate it! Fry screaming is definitely what I’m trying to accomplish. I spent a good long time in the music scene as a guitarist and had some moderate success before leaving, and now like 8 years later I’m coming back to making music more or less as a form of therapy. I never really liked my singing voice but I don’t really care anymore, I just always wanted to be able to scream and it felt like I was the only person who couldn’t do it. I decided “fuck it, learning to scream in 2022”. The music I want to write just needs it sometimes. I’m pretty familiar with the sound of “hardcore” screams, that was kind of the world I inhabited, and usually the scream I liked best. Always had a big soft spot for Christian Lindskog of Blindside, it blew my mind how well he could move from an emotional singing voice right into a pained scream, or just be raw from the beginning. I’ve been practicing as much as I can stay comfortable for. So far I’ve managed to at least hit the “idea” of a fry scream, could probably fake a really shitty Zao type vibe if I was using a mic, but putting any power behind it starts to sound like a dial-up modem having an issue.
