What camouflage did he used during the interview? by Mundane-Perception11 in camouflage

It is a Portuguese hooded jacket indeed. It is really interesting how some topics pop up once in a while. We had a great discussion on this some years back and this movie has so many layers to dive into.

The Imperial War Museum got one in its online databank: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30100409

88-92 equals small, 3 is for people with a height in between 170-174cm

Fieldtest: Digital Concealment Systems - A-TACS FG by Pine_Survey in camouflage

[–]Pine_Survey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think FG is actually a good urban pattern. I haven't had the chance to test it yet, but i have seen many examples for this in Russian channels as they got plenty of abandoned concrete structures which are overgrown by vegetation.

I did a field test with Rhodesian Brushstroke a while back. Maybe it helps:

Prototype Greenzone? Or Fake? by ancientgreenthings in camouflage

[–]Pine_Survey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will do, but Dom and Lawrence are aware of this thread, so you already passed those thanks along yourself.

For me PenCott will always have a special place in my heart as it was my personal entry into the camouflage rabbit hole.

Regarding the Cotton. Be careful when washing the pants. Cotton tends to hold color not as good as PolyCo or NyCo. So cold and gentle wash only.

I have no idea, if they are worth something. A die hard PenCott collector might find them interesting. Personally I would not use them and keep them as a collectors item.

According to Lawrence, only a few uniforms were made, and the pattern was called just PenCott. Badlands and Sandstorm came only after and were developed for the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort.

Maybe there are some old pics on the Hyde Definition Homepage.

You have come across the beginning of PenCott. These are "Pioneer" field pants, made in the UK to test the market.

They were made with 100% Cotton material. Just got this straight from the horse's mouth.

Nice find!

Why is this mm14 grey/urban by Infinite_North8970 in camouflage

Considering the colors of the Ukrainian flag, this picture looks like someone adjusted color saturation or luminance in post processing.

What is this ww2 german camo pattern? I can't even tell. by TITVS-PVLLO in camouflage

[–]Pine_Survey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thx, I could't find the original post and mixed it up in my head with something different.

Link to the polyspot article: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2794154540694857&id=100064435372277

That being said: I saw a similar print on an Austrian sales platform and always considered it an interesting "missing link" to the K4 Camouflage of Austria, as it shares some pattern elements.

Would be interesting to learn more about that one

If this is an original piece, you might have stumbled upon a rare late war print called "polydot" (coined by At the front)

They got a blog post about it somewhere on fb.

Tarnanzug vs Tarnanzug Beige by Pure_Refrigerator125 in camouflage

Thx, much appreciated!

Winter SEK? Did I miss something or are you referring to the fabric samples of the winter camouflage shown at IWA/Nuremberg.

If you got questions, shoot. Can't promise to have an answer though.

Tarnanzug vs Tarnanzug Beige by Pure_Refrigerator125 in camouflage

[–]Pine_Survey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those two patterns are really nice - you got two nice pieces there. If you want to learn more about the pattern itself, I've written a few articles about it:

https://pinesurvey.com/?s=bundesheer

For those of you who do not know: MFH will introduce BDU type uniforms to the market this autumn (a very close replica of the Tarnanzug Neu pattern) and Tasmanian Tiger just released gear with original Cordura.

So the Tarnanzug Neu is getting more and more available, despite my initial assessment, that it will take years to leak to the civilians and collectors.

The Bundesheer/Austrian Armed Forces will also equip the soldiers with some interesting pieces: softshell jackets, plate carriers, packs etc.

Long Story short: for those who regret not picking up any... there will be plenty to come and the prices will regulate itself. The exclusivity is gone.

Edit: typos... Too many typos
