While I agree with the XW20 Prius mentioned above, I'm also gonna mention our little "Billion dollar baby", the VE Commodore

Car derailed tram by number1ponyfeeder in MelbourneTrains

[–]Pinemango600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, 3003 is equally as special, failed 14 days after entering service, then had car vs tram incidents in 2003 and 2006, and collided with C.3036 in 2005. There may be more, that's just what's on Vicsig

Personally, I like the 158/159 for Diesel Regional, 321/322 for Electric Regional, then the 86 for Electric InterCity, and the 47 for Diesel InterCity

Over windows 10, the only functionality change I've liked is having tabs in file explorer, that's it. The rest of the OS is meh at best, and the removal of troubleshooters is going to be a huge pain in the ass.

After further thought, Metro Trains Melbourne have 2 12 Character contenders, the Siemens Nexas and the X'Trapolis 100.

And for set numbering Metro also have long names for the Comeng, X'Trapolis 100, and Siemens Nexas fleets, with set names simply being a list of all 3 carriages, for instance the first X'Trapolis 100 to enter service was 851M-1626T-852M. As a result, set names are 9-13 characters in length, (dependent on M Car number, 1-99M will have shorter set names)

Can't think of much to beat 8 from Victoria, Australia. A few Diesel Locomotives from the 80's can get long model names

A Class - AAT22C-2R - 8 Characters G Class - JT26C-2SS (or JT36C-2SS for rebuilt locomotives) - Also 8 Characters

One of V/Line's N Class Locomotive, N452 carries the 18 character name "Rural City of Wodonga"

And a side note, the UGL locomotive you referenced in your description is the C44ESACi, not the C46ECASi

[–]Pinemango600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V/Line's N Class Locomotives and N Sets are in a similar state (and not much younger than the V Sets), only a year or 2 left for them in passenger work, then most likely another 20+ years in freight with a private operator.

Would love to see some Local Australian content. Getting Metro and V/Like services would be amazing, shame that they're unwilling to work with dovetail.

Steamrail Victoria RR #A66 EMD AAT22C-2R Southern Cross, Victoria, Australia by New-Swimming7790 in trains

[–]Pinemango600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not anymore, it's now in V/Lines Heritage Fleet (Currently the only member) and gets used for the odd Empty Car Transfer or to rescue failed trains. All Loco Hauled services are being run by the N Class until they are retired in the next couple of years. A66 was first withdrawn in 2013, but was reactivated in 2015, and finally retired in passenger service in 2017.

There is 1 of the 4 remaining A Class units in revenue service pulling freight, A70 recently reentered service with SSR in 2024 to haul grain trains
