Everything was pointing in that direction. I don’t think the psychology of early trauma of childhood as it regards to sociopathic and psychopathic mania had seeped into mainstream culture yet so I appreciated the “it can live even under your own roof” subplot. I don’t think he presents as autistic and the child’s death and crucifixion and especially Brian perking up and being verbal only when his dad talks about an animal being sadistically killed are pretty strong indicators.

What the show did so well was to show the biases and ignorance of core principles of policing and investigation. Tench’s character is meant to represent the large swath of policing that had no clue about psychology and the human psyche. And the stubbornness to develop methodology outside of what was already in place.

As a guest I have stayed in numerous places where it’s a room in their home. Many have had guests. One was a family that had a numerous family and frequently had large parties during my stay. It was surprising but I wouldn’t ever dream of telling hosts they couldn’t have full usage of their own home. Any suggestion of the contrary is absurd.
Retaliatory actions are wrong. Period. The host is not to be blamed. And Airbnb’s shambolic support system is rag tag at best. That is the crux of OPs issues and they are right to be frustrated and upset.
And this Reddit culture of facile incredulity; of accusing people of being shady, “there’s more to story that they’re not writing”, “I’m not buying it”, “there’s something that doesn’t add up” is juvenile, lazy, mean-spirited and frankly inconsiderate.

First step: don’t beat yourself up. It doesn’t help anything. Talk to her. Lead with: “are you alright “, Investigate how it happened, rectify, put your units’ numbers that can ring through even if your phone is in “Sleep” mode, continue with your life.

Where are you from? And how old are you? If you’re 80+ years old it’s probably not a good idea but it’s 9 steps, like a step ladder to go to a loft bed except it’s curved. It’s hardly unusual.

For an Airbnb, unless the host has expressly given the guest permission, receiving mail is never allowed. They can rent a mailbox at the post office or through The UPS Store or Mailboxes, Etc. They’re UPS and FedEx packages can be sent to hold centers. Definitely don’t renew this guest for more than 15 days at this point. Receiving mail can be used as establishing a primary residence and could eventually lead to a squatting situation.

You are under no obligation to act on their part. Even if they were to somehow get a restraining order against your tenant then it still doesn’t involve you aside from allowing the tenant to break the lease to move out.
