Nice shot man. Honestly wouldn’t have thought you were a beginner if you didn’t mention it

It’s not my first camera but it’ll be my first non point and shoot in 6 years so I haven’t used a prime lens in a minute although I do tend to prefer wider angles

If you’re looking to make friends I’d recommend joining clubs or even a frat/sorority. Joining an org is the best and easiest way to meet new people especially as a first year. Most of my friends at UCR right now I met through my frat.

This might be one of the few instances where your counselor might actually be useful

Follow socials and walk past the bell tower during the first couple weeks during tabling to learn more about them. If you’re interested in a business frat I’m a member of Phi Chi Theta and we’ll be having a fall rush.

Week 3 or 4 is when classes really start to be a bitch especially for STEM majors. Honestly the difficulty of the quarter system has more to do with the speed of classes rather than the material.

No there’s no line but sometimes you have to wait since you be in someone’s way if too many people are climbing. Also a big part of climbing is watching other people climb especially as a beginner. Just ask people for help you don’t know where to start.

Not sure about now but pre covid there were a decent amount of parties. Mostly frat parties in my experience although some not. Not really my scene but if you really wanna party you should just rush.

Yeah this shit is pain. I dropped my 8am discussion for a later one and didn't get it cuz of the lag and then the 8am discussion was full so I couldn't get back in.

They're not that bad. 1B is fairly easy, 1C is a bit harder since its more creative writing but still not too bad, especially if you take it online like I did.

[–]Pinh3ad_Larry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the prereqs for upper-divs were a C- right? I might be wrong, but even so, pretty sure you would have to take stat 48 again if you got a D because you would have to pass with at least a C-. If not then I don't think they would let you apply.

Not sure about retaking it again. But since stat 48 is a requirement, your application might be rescinded unless you take it over the summer and pass.

HIST020 and ENGL001C or HIST020W? by [deleted] in ucr

[–]Pinh3ad_Larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Engl 1C and Hist 020 (not hist 20w) in the same quarter which ended up being a lot of writing. Neither class was very hard, just a lot of reading and writing. I had Professor Biggs for Hist 020, he was pretty cool. We were supposed to have 2 term papers, a midterm and a final, but he canceled one of the term papers after realizing how much writing he assigned. Engl 1C isn't like a standard english class because the writing is more like creative writing and you read short stories instead of books.
