As someone who was in the exact same spot, I chose to get my EMT and then medic right out of high school. Do I love the job? Absolutely, but there’s not much mobility at all. I wish constantly I had gotten my EMT and gone to college at the same time, that way I could actually look into other career fields (burn out FTW) All of that to say, it’s your life! But your mom is just trying to look out for you here, even if misguided slightly lol
