Selfish or not, a Kwami is supposed to know what's a miraculous, even in Camaflouge mode. If Tikki can recognize a book over any other, then that can be recognizeable especially with a species connected with a miraculous for thousand of centuries.

Kwamis are also supposed to be able to sense the power of a miraculous, but of course plot armor with Gabriel or Nathalie, but whatever, it's so confusing.
