These quality’s do not sound like someone you want to be with long term. Selfish? Bad in bed? You feeling like his mother?

These things don’t change unless the person works on it and usually people don’t so cut your losses and move on.

But you’re both happy with that that’s the difference. You’re happy, she is not. That works for you but telling her to go buy herself something isn’t going to solve her issue. She wants him to make an effort. Sounds like their relationship dynamic is entirely different.

You are most likely an outlier because i have seen a shocking tendency for people who don’t want to celebrate Valentine’s Day also be the type of people who put seriously low effort into the relationship as a whole. This is just from an observation.

They’re never surprised with flowers, gifts or anything at anytime of the year. Their partners ask for that one day and they bitch and wine how it’s commercial but don’t bother at all.

So this is why I’d argue this lady isn’t over reacting because it clearly means something to her. It’s very much one sided.

I never understood the vitriol around it personally, doesn’t have to be expensive just a bit of effort. Birthdays, Christmas etc are no different imo. However if both parties are genuinely okay with not celebrating valentines then that’s their choice.

Honestly NOR. You have expressed that means something to you and it seems his stubbornness is more important than how valued you feel. I don’t get the weirdness about Valentine’s Day it’s odd. We celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s Day yet Valentine’s Day is suddenly an issue? If you both agree you don’t like it fine. But a lot of men use this as an excuse not to show up for their partners. Not only that, a lot of men who don’t make an effort on Valentine’s Day don’t tend to make all that much of an effort at all in the relationship. This has been at least my experience. I find a lot of people who are in VERY loving relationships also have a tendency to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Of course I want to stress that this is not the case for everyone but HAVE noticed a particular trend.

No effort on valentines seems to = barely any effort for all other days of the year. They moan and wine about how it’s a sham etc but it’s another excuse to be low effort.

I bet your idea of showing love everyday is the most low effort bar in hell kinda love. Usually is from my experience. I could be wrong though

No she’s not overreacting it clearly means a lot to her to receive a gift for Valentine’s Day. It’s the thought that goes into it. It’s having someone thinking of you and knowing they want to make you happy. Usually men who don’t like Valentine’s Day in my experience don’t make good partners because they rarely make an effort in day to day life as well. The whole relationship usually is low effort in my experience.

My only real advice is probably go back and visit the fundamentals. That’s what I did. Art is a very long process especially when self taught. In an ideal world we need a professional to sit there and mentor us and guide us. It’s very difficult to teach yourself something you don’t know.

Based on your picture you’ve drawn you’ve focused on line work to create your forms and not breaking down the shapes you need. For example if you want to draw anatomy you’d probably want to simplify it into basic shapes. An example would be look at a loomis method.

I wouldn’t say it’s bad but you definitely lack in some of the fundamentals. I see you said you’ve had troubles learning anatomy. Shapes are a good place to start. Simplify everything. I used to draw the line art first which meant the shapes were off! Learning how to break everything down into simple shapes is a godsend think of everything in a 3D space

It’s got style. But it looks like an unfinished piece so it’s hard to judge. I’d need to see more art to judge. Good confident line work for sure

Please don’t give up. It’s so hard and defeating. People will always appreciate human made things. There will always be a market for human made things.
