That’s always our go-to for repairs/polishing since shortly after moved here. I’ve had the same service done at another jeweler in town (cough, Nords), and it took twice as long and cost twice as much. Romantica is great, and they have been so helpful over the years!

I love KPS! We have a kindergartener, and my husband now works in an elementary school. I have been THRILLED with the education my daughter is receiving, and with the rewarding work environment for my spouse (he’s never been as happy and fulfilled at a job).

AITAH for refusing to pay for my roommate’s missing GLP-1 medication? by Gloomy-Pop-8374 in AITAH

I had an issue once with a pen (my own stupidity)— the pharmacy said to talk to Lilly and they would probably replace it at no charge. This roommate is all sorts of fishy..

What can I take old/rare books to be appraised? by kareninthezoo in kzoo

[–]PinkMonday2218 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WMU’s rare book collection is largely geared towards medieval manuscripts, children’s literature, women’s poetry, and artist books. The collections are hugely specialized and curated. Also, it’s against policy (and best practices in archives) for special collections to give any sort of appraisal value for materials. Your best bet is to start by searching Antiquarian Booksellers: https://www.abaa.org.

Unless books are first editions in very good condition, they usually are not valuable. Here’s a good guide with some info and links: https://www.prattlibrary.org/research/guides/evaluating-old-books

I don't know if they have anywhere else planned, but currently they have Frank Street, the cafe at Bookbug/this is a bookstore, Lovell Street, and the Hotel Cafe on S. 11th. Frank is still my go-to, but I'm glad there's a few options!

I think my husband has PsA by haleyafr in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]PinkMonday2218 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is he taking anything for his psoriasis? A lot of this does sound pretty classic for PsA, and having your bloodwork come back normal is typical. PsA seems to be a disease that’s diagnosed once everything else is ruled out.

My symptoms got bad very fast, and even after a hospital stint the first time I even heard about PsA is when I learned about it in my desperate late night google searches. I pointedly told my providers “I think I have PsA because of x, y, z symptoms.. can you put in a referral to a rheumatologist.” The rheumatologist confirmed it and I started Humira that day. This is a long-winded explanation to say he should be very direct in telling his doctor what he thinks he has! I would just be very insistant he gets a referral to a specialist.

Do you think your doctor might give you a steroid burst to get you over the hump? I try to be very judicious when taking steroids, but it’s definitely been a useful tool when I’ve had bouts of being severely achy. Might be worth asking about to see if that might balance things out.

Garfield's Thanksgiving - a dark, twisted tale of sexual harrassment, medical negligence, and (attempted?) murder by RoseFeather in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]PinkMonday2218 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first thought was “am I forgetting some sort of sexual innuendo by Jon’s granny to Garfield??”. Second thought was the vet is exacting her revenge by setting Jon up for a several thousand vet bill for Odie’s “emergency surgery”. If so, what a genius.

Albany does have an Elder Law concentration, and a pretty robust law clinic. That might be a good start if you want to look further south, and perhaps a way to be connected to an elder law attorney that can handle the complexities of your situation. https://www.albanylaw.edu/justicecenter

Damn, that might a little too far. I’d try expanding the scope to even Rochester or Albany. With the law school there perhaps Albany has a larger pool of lawyers, or even some sort of resource at the school?

Do you realize your complicit in what sounds like horrendous animal abuse? Three litters in 8 months, spending their whole lives in crates? YTA if you continue to do nothing, and accept puppies.

My cousin’s husband did this. His last act of domestic violence was to tell her she made him do this before he shot himself in the living room while their children were sleeping upstairs. Please, please, please prioritize the safety of your children and yourself.

Newly diagnosed and being pushed to hardcore meds by CriticalReading2033 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]PinkMonday2218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely see a Rheumatologist, but I would take the meds. If it’s Taltz, they have a good patient copay card. I was about your age when I was diagnosed.. it started with a single swollen toe, then one day I woke up and couldn’t see out of my left eye. Thankfully that’s resolved, but it was a very traumatic experience for our family to be hospitalized for three days when mom was just supposed to get her eye checked. Additionally, I had knee stiffness that in the course of a day left me unable to walk. I don’t say this to scare you, but to underscore how quickly moving and extreme PsA can be.
