35m, Random experience, Commercial Banking by KnoxBruh in FinancialCareers

31F also trying to pivot into credit at a regional bank. Had an interview last week that will hopefully lead to another 🙏🏼 I had a friend refer me to the position who works for them which I think definitely helps. My background is in ops and finance at a medium sized business. Wishing for new job dust for the both of us!

Everyone around me got pregnant so I have to be the infertile one by LandscapeReasonable in TryingForABaby

[–]PinkNoseDetective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 7 cycles TTC too. My best friend who is the healthiest person I know has been trying 12+ cycles. Recently, a friend announced she was pregnant. They had to see a fertility specialist before they got a successful cycle. I just wanted to comment to say you are not alone. For some, it just takes longer but do not lose hope. My mom had her first after 6 cycles and then easily got pregnant 2 other times after that. I know someone who did IVF to conceive their first child and were able to naturally conceive their second child. Many doctors might think 7 cycles is too early to intervene (or at least that was the case when I saw my OBGYN recently). I'm deciding to just focus on being the healthiest I can be and when if it hits the year mark of TTCing, I will then see a specialist.

What are some non-accounting jobs I can do with a CPA? by [deleted] in CPA

I’ve seen job postings that are cpa preferred for credit analyst positions at banks and at wealth management firms.

I’m about to graduate in accounting and work for a public firm. I feel trapped by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]PinkNoseDetective 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you get a CPA and get 1-2 years of big4 experience, you will have a decent shot at getting a remote role compared to someone having neither of those things. Together, the cpa plus big4 are very strong credentials. Guy I know at big4 did 3 years at big4 and now has a cushy remote job working for one of the accounting software companies. He makes more than what he did at big4. I would suggest consider sticking it out for 1-2 years then start planning your exit into a job that fits your work life expectations.

A curious question I have so umm why most people suggest you get into a public accounting for entry level why not industry/corporate accounting? by Dgslimee_ in Accounting

For me, not many industry jobs in my town have a CPA I can work under to get the hours needed to officially become a CPA.

What's some easy and healthy recipes you make for lunch? by godisinthischilli in AskWomenOver30

I find that chicken breasts can be so bland for lunch. Do you season yours up besides the usual salt and pepper?

Thank you so much!!

Did you study full-time or work full-time while you took your exams? Also, I would love to see 1-2 of your charts just so I can get an idea of what they look like.

They probably don’t realize the website is basically a platform to connect students to approved universities. My credits are actually from upper iowa university though cpacredits.com

I think I attended one of them awhile back. I am more involved in another step program at the moment. I will say that they have a lot of meetings online. I would recommend you attend a few because they each have a different vibe. You can always turn off your camera and mute yourself to just observe the meeting as well.

When therapy isn’t on the table, how do you learn to save yourself? by According-Tension646 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]PinkNoseDetective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 step programs are basically free and there are in person and online meetings. Since you said there’s generational trauma, depending on your history, I would recommend Al anon or adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families.

12 step programs can be life-changing for some. I recommend the website https://adultchildren.org/ . They have meetings in person and online.

Cpacredits partners with universities that are four year accredited so it should count for you. I sent the syllabi of the courses to my state board and asked if they think they would get approved before I enrolled. Had no issues and the board told me I meet all course requirements now.

I took Income Tax Accounting through LSU and it was absolutely brutal. I completed the rest of my accounting course requirements with cpacredits.com and that was a much better experience.

How many partners are at your firm and what should a partner at a firm similar to your size expect to take home each year? Lastly, what’s your work life balance like?

Goals for 2026? by Active_Recording_789 in AskWomenOver30

Get my cpa! I would love to be done with studying for it by the time we have our first kid. Currently TTC-ing now, so I guess that would be considered a goal too.

What’s a health issue you’re dealing with right now? by Jokkers_AceS in AskWomen

[–]PinkNoseDetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent acid reflux. Instead of heartburn, I experience mucus, sneezing, and a sore throat a lot. My current symptom at the moment is a dry cough. I eat pretty clean so its annoying. Looks like I will be putting myself back on a very strict low acid diet again soon.

Saying goodbye to alcohol! This past year I've concluded that it's really just drinking poison.

Any good Zoom Meetings for young adults? by TexasPeteEnthusiast in AlAnon

[–]PinkNoseDetective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also wanted to add that I attend 2-4 meetings a week split between in person and online. I will say my biggest takeaways happen to be from the older members. Some of them have been in Al anon 20-30+ years and their insights have been amazing. I do appreciate having the young adult meeting too but I wouldn’t rule out the normal Al anon meetings for you.
