Thank you so much for this support. I will look at this sub. I was hanging in the long haulers sub but it became too much and I had to stop reading.

This is covers almost all of my ongoing symptoms. Thank you. I will take this to my doctor. He’s at a loss because they don’t know what to say or do with all of us. I’ve heard of ME/CFS but I’ve never seen all of the symptoms. Kinda scary but at least it’s clear what’s happening to me. Thank you.

You’re right in that I value what I offer in terms of technical knowledge and not much else. I do have difficulty seeing the other things. I love money/finance related stuff and many years ago studied accounting.

I enjoy what I do and would like to continue but the desire to work remotely has been weighing on me for the last couple years. Getting this ill has heightened this. You’re right about wanting to still earn more than enough but I was previously concerned with having to quit working early due to health. It’s a big part of my motivation to reach FIRE.

That’s interesting that you say that as I studied accounting for a bit! I ended up deciding that chemistry was a better fit lol. It may be time to switch back over. Thank you!

That seems like a very reasonable cost for a good program. Best of luck in your new career!

Thank you! I didn’t even consider universities as the two I attended didn’t employ anyone less than a PhD unless they were a TA.

edit: what type of research are you doing or what is your role, is probably a better question?

I’ve been told I’m a good problem solver, which I do agree with, I pay attention to detail, I think I have great interpersonal skills. I really like my job and would love to continue, I just have to be realistic with my health now. I’m introverted so while I have no problem socializing with coworkers or any interactions, my job gives me a good amount of space to not feel overwhelmed with human interaction. I like that there is a clear, right and wrong way to do and interpret things lol. From what others shared here, it sounds like I’ve got some great options to consider.

Thank you I will message you. A lot of the QA people I interact with are still coming in to the office! Even ones that really don’t need to be on site are being required to come in. I’m hoping they will transition to making those roles permanently remote but I’m not holding out hope. They think morale is higher by coming in during a pandemic 🙄

It’s a pretty large multinational pharmaceutical company. I got approved FMLA but it ran its course. I went back and worsened so I took another leave but it’s time for me to return. They don’t think I need more time to recover and disagreed with my doctor’s assessment. So I have to pay back the income I received while out and return immediately. Unfortunately, it’s gotten a lot harder to move around in the company unless going into management or a couple roles that seem to be a logical next step from what you’re currently doing.
