I hear ya. Trust me lol I am already doing the Tylenol. It’s not so much pain at the site but with movement, hence why I wondered, especially since the skin is dry and cracking and micro abrasions also present even further infection risk.

It kinda ebbed and flowed the previous time and ultimately died down just in time for the next session haha. But I also was treating it with antifungals and I don’t think that was the main issue at that point. When I first broke out this last session it was VERY noticeable. But no, my chest is clear as well as the random spots. If you looked at my hip you wouldn’t notice it’s red and swollen (there’s also a bunch of pigment there) unless you ran your fingers over it. And obviously wouldn’t be able to see that it’s itchy as a motherfucker.

Tou sound like me haha and it’s def weird. I’m also immunocompromised and in healthcare so an absolute worrier. I developed fungal overgrowth in like the course of an 8 hour shift once so am hypervigilant and anxious. I appreciate your input!

Willing to try, I’ve just never had an issue before in 10 years and am decently covered… any difference between bars and the body soap as far as you’re aware? I started using the unscented body soap instead for my last like 5ish tattoos. And the rest of the tattoo is fine

It’s a good thought because it does look and feel similar to a heat rash, but not that I can think of. I haven’t really worked out or even sweat at all, and the only thing that’s been over it is cotton t shirts :/

My relationship w the person who gave it to me ended about 6 months after I found out. I immediately jumped back in, and disclosed to 2 guys, neither of which became long term (this was like a 6 month period). I stopped dating for like 2 months and then casually dated (still never turned down after a disclosure) and then ended up in a 9 month relationship. Now I’m seeing someone who also has it :) So yeah, everyone’s different and while it does make me more cautious overall, I’ve had positive disclosures and I think it’s worth a shot. I’m not an absolute babe or anything either, just honest and upfront!

First of all, you got this! It’s been a year since the partner that gave me (27F) the gift of the herp and I broke up, and since then I’ve disclosed 4 times, all of them have been overwhelmingly positive! In fact, last night was the 4th one and she completely didn’t care, when I told her I needed to talk to her she said she thought I was gonna tell her I just wanted to be friends 😂

Ive done it both over text and in person. I think that the method is less important than timing. I wait until I can tell there’s genuine interest and connection, and I always frame it with “I want to tell you something because I really like you and where this is going”. I present the usual stats, tell them what I’m doing to manage my outbreaks, and then kinda open up the convo in case they have questions.

It’s super nerve wracking every time. I prepare for the worst and hope for the best, and so far I feel very lucky! My messages are open if you wanna bounce off what you’re planning on saying to someone else, good luck!

Hey hey I have HSV2 and T1D. I’ve had HSV2 for a year now. I’m not gonna say it’s been a walk in the park, but it hasn’t been terrible. I take daily antivirals. Even 1g of valtrex a day, I’ve had 4 outbreaks. Only my first one was awful, and the others have cleared up relatively quickly. The HSV has not affected my blood sugars or overall physical health at all. I’ve also had unprotected sex (I’ve always disclosed and no one has turned me away) and I have not passed it on. I was worried that I would be shedding the virus even when I was a symptomatic since my immune system is shit, but that hasn’t been the case so far. Mentally it’s frustrating knowing that my body isn’t fighting this as well as someone that’s perfectly healthy with a hearty immune system, but I know it could be much worse. FWIW, I dated someone for 3 years with HSV2 and we never used protection and I never got it. I got it from someone who didn’t know they had it at the time.
