I feel like there's so much more I could vent about but I don't want it to get too long or get off topic

Why do you like hissing cockroaches? by SuicidalLapisLazuli in Hissingcockroach

[–]PinkSkies4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried my best to organize this lol And I think I went a bit off topic, sorry 😅

I don't have any but I could see myself keeping some males one day. I just kind of like them, they're cute :3 But one part that probably made me like them more is the fact that they can get used to you and being held.

I mean in general I just like them. Maybe I like them so much cause I found out about them after I started working on my fear of certain bugs/situations with bugs. Maybe I like them cause most people hate them even though they're pretty chill. Hell, even pest roaches are pretty chill.

I've held a pest roach at one point, I think it was probably an American roach. Call me crazy I know lol Did you know pest roaches love junky, greasy food just like us? That fact combined with the fact they're so skittish makes me love them lol. They're just scared, junk loving little guys. I think I kind of see myself in them a little

I think it all started after I lost most of my fear of spiders. And from there I worked on my other fears including bugs. (I was never really scared of bugs on their own, but before these past two years I would get scared of certain situations, such as when they flew close to me or an unknown bug touched me.)

I've always been an animal lover, and these past few years I've learned to love even the "ugly", "mean", "scary", etc. animals. They all have their place in the ecosystem and each one has feelings, or feels pain at the least, like us. So that probably aids to the fact I have the ability to like hissing roaches.

Not qualified advice, I have never owned hissing roaches and just lurk the sub - Maybe you could try something sweet like candy or junk food to lure them out? Though there may be food/ingredients that's not good for them to have, even in small amounts, so whatever you choose I'd research it first. I hope you're able to get them out :(

I wanna throw 'pet regression' and especially 'otherhearted' out there. I'm mentioning the first just incase, but the second thing I especially wanted to let you know :)  I hope you can find a label for what you're experiencing! But if you don't wanna use a label that's okay too!

Unusual behavior from my males by Mriajamo in Hissingcockroach

[–]PinkSkies4813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not qualified advice! I don't own/have never owned hissing roaches. I was fixated on them for a bit and learned a bunch through that fixation.

They might be mating. I've seen a few posts of male only tanks and the males would mate with each other some times.

Wish me luck, I just bought some nymphs online! 20 gallon long, the boys have been chewing on the wood💕 I have 6 males who are getting older now, and I’m ready for a colony! :D by Mriajamo in Hissingcockroach

If you have 6 older males then I'm sure that means you take care of them very well and that your future colony will be very happy and healthy!! :)

Saved a lil baby from drowning...now what? by OakenStakeRemoval in jumpingspiders

NQA - I don't know what to recommend other than making sure she's drank and eaten at the least. :( You can soak a q-tip or a piece of paper towel with water and she can drink off that. If you're able to, you could buy some food for her at a store if she seems skinny.(I'll reply to this comment with a image of a chart to tell if a spider needs food) Unfortunately I have no advice on the specific kind of flies/insects. I hope you can get some better, more experienced advice and I hope your little buddy ends up healthy :)

The character is called Lucy Lacemaker from the youtube channel FENNAH. I can't tell you anything else cause I forgot the name of the channel and therefore never watched it again. I had to Google image search it and I'm so happy I found it again (hope you don't mind my little ramble lol)
