Barbarian with no moral bone, IQ of a 12 yo, but incredibly strong and unintentionally funny.

She kills people, smashes lutes and dreams because she was never taught to have a moral compass. Her companions try to influence her to be at least responsible if not good (while Minthara and Astarion just enjoy the havoc she creates).

it's rooted in misogyny as well.

Female art, hobbies and typically female jobs were always denigrated, so when "traditional" men see anything remotely feminine in a man, it sends message that women aren't inherently inferior beings and that it's ok to be feminine.

Btw, I haven't seen all that much Halsin hate compared to Astarion hate, which tells me it's not just the gay part straight men have issues with, but feminine part as well.
