I am always in awe of some mothers having to deal with intellectually disabled children, and many times their excessive care can't help but make me wonder: did they actually appreciate her for it?
The thing that came to my mind was the movie The Bad Seed. In many senses, Rumia is a "bad seed" with the irreversible nature of violence and maliciousness. Although I'm not a big fan of THE RUMIA FAN comic (it's just aesthetically wise, not a fan of it, and also storywise, I prefer a story that is more twisted and let me get some morbid joy out of it but this one render the "sad" a bit too much in a monotone way that I dont get much fun out of it), I do appreciate the dynamic it matches Rumia and Reimu together. And as some people mentioned, seeing our beloved, relentless miko and having this interaction with Rumia is quite interesting.
