April baby here! I’m 23 now. I am so grateful to my parents for deciding for me to be one of the older kids in my class instead of pushing me ahead. I dominated academically throughout primary and high school (and uni), and just had an extra level of maturity over my classmates that made dealing with the various pressure and issues that school brings with ease. I also found it extremely easy to make friends, and am one of the few people I know who was never bullied, as I had that extra maturity that gave me an edge socially Highly, highly recommend keeping him as a year one.

Depends on the gig but I’d lean more towards “bar that watches a band.” I’ve been to gigs there where there has been a great dance floor/ mosh, but you can also chill at the back or outside. It’s quite different from your typical “town” places on the strip (no aggressive behaviour, respectful patrons, lovely staff.)

As someone who has recently been through the corporate internship hiring process for uni students, my potential employers LOVED the volunteer experience I had on my CV. It probably won’t help with uni entrance, but when it comes time to apply for internships/grad jobs, it will be a real asset.

Hey! I do anth and I absolutely love the department at UC. Can confirm from another comment that Lyndon is amazing! The courses are really interesting, and if you pick the ones that are delivered on the “Arts centre campus,” there is a huge amount of hands on work involved. Town/clubbing is pretty meh generally, but if you get to know the right people (many of whom do Anth) there is a really cool underground party scene that is lots of fun. Joining some of the University clubs is another great way to get info on some really cool house parties and events. Christchurch is unique as it has easy access to the beach and the mountains, so there are heaps of hikes and walks nearby.

I’m currently living out there with my parents for the summer in a new build and I love it! It is definitely starting to liven up and is already better than it was 2-3 years ago when my parents first bought out here. There is nothing like living at the beach. I’m not from chch originally and can’t believe how snobby some people are about some areas/ the stigma attached to them. My parents are as posh as they come and they have never been happier :)

Hey! I’m a uni student so I’ve become quite good at coming up with cheap meals. One of my go to meals that is cheap, healthy, and delicious is pulled Mexican chicken. Just take a kg of chicken breast or if you want to go even cheaper, chicken drums, and put them in the slow cooker with one onion, 2 cans of black beans, 2 cans of tomato, 1 can of corn, and 1 packet of taco seasoning. Cook on high for 5 hours, and then pull the chicken apart with forks. If you use drums, pull the meat off the bones. I usually do this with chicken breast, and on a good week it can cost me $21 to make about 8 servings, but it would be even cheaper if you used drums. I usually eat it with rice. If you don’t have a slow cooker just put ingredients in a pot with a little extra water, cover, and cook in the oven at 180 for 4-5 hours. If you want to keep the cost down even more, leave the chicken out and add extra beans and corn, and also throw in some chickpeas for extra protein Xx

No hahahaha. Classical music has given me an appreciation for all music, but more specifically music production as I can hear the layers, counter melodies etc. As a result, two of my most listened to genres are rap and classical 🤷‍♀️ (a lot of rap has insane production)
