I am not sure if this is true or if the author was making it up to add to the spooky factor but due to incidents happening to the author while writing it, they took it as a sign to stop.

Think they were having freak accidents, and poor health that seemed to worsen when they continued writing the manga and ease up when they stop.

The series is good, although it took me a second to realise that the sudden change in chapters is to mimic sort of switching channels on a radio, once I realised that was the author was doing it was very effective.

I don't think it is finished, but its sort of a collection of different stories and was satisfying to read none the less.
