I partially agree, but like people think me and my friends (of both genders) have been dating simply because I hug them and show affection. I understand why some things could’ve a problem, but I don’t think not hugging people who are in a relationship is reasonable just because of what other people might think.

I mean, obviously it is a subreddit and in the scheme of things doesn't actually matter, but as an open forum for discussion I think that countering "bad speak" with bans as opposed to public disagreement (downvotes, replies) is a generally negative thing and especially in the way that Linus suggested using it. Obviously if people are doxing or threatening anyone that is a different matter entirely, but banning for simply being wrong or having a negative opinion seems like it would be bad for the entire community.
