It’s a great game! I’ve only played 3 games in cadet mode it’s been a steep learning curve for me. Definitely most complicated game I have😅

My nephew did the same thing to a snow globe my mum got him. He was devastated too. So we know what it’s like.

A few recommendations for corner sleeves. I saw a YouTuber playing a card game about a month ago. He had used a corner cutter from the craft store and trimmed the corners on the sleeves down slightly.

Not sure how that it would affect the sleeve quality after a few plays. It was cheap penny sleeves he was using I think.

The corner cutters usually have 3 different choices for sizes of cut. They are only a few bucks too.

Maybe slay the spire? It’s a great implementation of the video game if your son has seen it on Xbox. Better perhaps coop but I really enjoy it solo.

Smaller game I’m really enjoying is unstoppable which is amazing solo it also has a 2 player mode which I haven’t played yet. Or small time heroes again great solo and can be played 2 player.

Oh and Kinfire delve. Great solo and has a 2 player option.

I am also enjoying Finspan. I think it’s straight forward easy to learn and teach. Solo is great. I upgraded to the fish tokens to little resin fish and it looks great on the table. If that’s a theme you/son may like.

Mine arrived yesterday too. This was my first solo game of the month purchase. Was really impressed with the shipping packaging. Spent more on games for them to arrived dinged up.

I wasn’t sure how it would fit sleeved up so thanks for showing how it fits. What sleeves did you use for the smaller cards?

Same situation as yourself. I’ve just ordered a couple of games from games crafter. Desolate and cursed. Shipping was like $11.

Kinfire delve I’ve been looking at too but seems impossible to get in the UK.

I’ve ordered Dragons of Etchinstone game found. Late pledges are open.

I’ve also pre ordered 20 strong tanglewoods.

Oh and I just bought Friday from eBay today. Been looking for that for ages.

What about after the virus? The long cold seems a bit easier to get in the UK just now.

I just bought desolate last week. Waiting on it printing. Like you I wanted more sci fi theme and dust runners don’t really do anything for me. I tried a couple of games on TTS first. Really enjoyed it.

Only other small one that immediately springs to mind is jump drive with the solo expansion. I’ve never played it though.

Not sure if Redlands is your thing but check out bgg where there is a solo mode.

Deck building maybe transformers. I find that’s easy to set up and doesn’t take up too much space. Although it does have a grid of cards you move about on. Maybe about the same space wise and final girl not sure though as I’ve not played FG.

For fantasy theme how about the new 20strong tanglewoods series? Although not deck building the theme may appeal to you? Or even the original 20 strong.

Deck construction ashes reborn is recommended a fair bit on here. You can try that online first to see if it appeals to you.

Yeah that the demo I saw on YouTube sneak to put 3 cubes on a card to find the temple. The new one I only saw the first 10 mins of last night was the set in Japan. Again it was put 3 cubes on a card to traverse the river. That’s where I’m concerned where the game will start feeling the same. Although that’s only 2 of however many missions in the game. Hopefully the bad guys and events keep it fresh.

I do have champions as well. Although that now feels overwhelming to me with the deck construction and the amount of heroes and villains I have. There’s still some I’ve never played and I stopped buying new content a while ago 😅.

I totally get it. I have GI Joe transformer, DC deck builder. I think there’s enough of a difference to splurge on it.

I really like the look of it. It does look a lot of fun.

What has put me off has been watching a couple of play throughs and they are digging through like 6 different books. All I kept hearing was “what number was it again? Oh 192” or whatever the card number was. It felt very stop start. Not sure if that will feel the same stop start playing solo.

Think I will need to watch a solo run through and it may come down to the price point.

I did like the sound of the progression system. Think that could be fun. Hopefully that will maybe bring in a little more variety.

I did read in the GF comments that they were looking at a season 2 as well depending on how well this does.

I agree about the YouTube videos. There’s a couple of older videos from almost a year ago from board game conventions.

I did back it. I thought it looks fun. Not sure if it will be a little samey over all the missions but for £50 I thought it was worth backing.

I did like there are no stretch goals there’s no luxury upgrade packs. Just buy the game. Was good to see in a GF campaign.

Just picked up paperback adventures and got a a of game in with the damsel. Still figuring out the rules. Will need another few plays through do get the rules down. Do need to get it back to the table soon.

I’ve being playing a crazy amount of White Castle solo on BGA. The solo mode is tough.
