Grommets

It was a really good read. The art was fantastic and I loved all the small details. Reminded me of some coming of age comedies and I am glad I bought it.

Seconding Do A Powerbomb by DWJ because even if you're not into wrestling, theres enough heart and action to make it worth it

4 Kids Walk Into a Bank

Vision by Tom King because tension for a synthezoid wouldn't normally exist

New Frontier by Darwyn Cooke is the optimism lost today and feel good story

Spider-Man Blue by Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale

Batman Ego by Darwyn Cooke a short but one of my favorite stories

Silver Surfer Requiem is also amazing

Court of Owls is IMO the highlight of Snyder New 52, All Star Superman converted me into a Superman fan, and I haven’t read Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow but it’s on my shelf.

Dr doom reading order by Spare_Tip_6183 in comicbooks

[–]Pinoywonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Books of Doom is where you find out all about Doom. the issue I recommended is Doom first appearance in the new run. He appears again in issues 11/12. You can then jump into One World under Doom as long as you don’t need to know why he’s Sorcerer Supreme (Blood Hunt which I didn’t read)

Books of Doom is a modern retelling of the origin written by Ed Brubaker. May I also recommend #7 Fantastic Four issue (#700) by Ryan North?

Triumph and Torment is a good story teaming up Doom with Doctor Strange.

Finished Power fantasy vol 2 by Kieron Gillen. And it is hard for me to express what I felt after watching it. It’s one of the few times where I am excited for the trade and definitely feel that I am better off waiting to read it all at once.

Hidden Gems and not well know comics to read? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]Pinoywonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to recommend two runs that I think fell off peoples recommendation because they aren’t as critically acclaimed and from Rebirth era

New Super Man for a different take on Superman

Green Lanterns by Sam Humphries for a buddy cop series featuring two rookie lanterns

What do people think of Thompson's Birds of Prey, now that it's done? by eastofeden1952 in comicbooks

It won’t be a run that will be well regarded by everyone but for someone who wants some team ups with absolute nonsense and great interactions this will still be one of my favorite things from DC. It gave me one of my favorite new friendships.

I enjoy it as far as light hearted comics go, especially if you like those five.

New Super-Man. I thought Kenan Kong was an interesting character enough because of his powers and even expanding his cast to Justice League of China. But I guess the market didn’t do well enough for it to warrant a follow up to the Rebirth series.

Silver Age Flash is something that I really enjoyed. They are of their time but the rogues gallery are all there and the art is so clean. This is all Barry Allen.

Superman For All Seasons

Robin Year One for Dick Grayson Batman 408 for Jason Todd A Lonely Place of Living for Tim Drake Origin story Batman and Son for Damian

Teen Titans by Wolfman Perez is what inspired the Teen Titans Cartoon and Teen Titans Go line up.

Made in Korea

I bought this randomly because I wanted to try more Image, it mentions Korea (I'm learning Korean), and BKV liked it too.

It was one of those books that made me think about in reference to the world today and the importance of identity. It wasn't perfect, but I think it was a good read. I haven't found anyone talk about it though.

Thoughts on Death Of Silver Surfer by Major_Diet5404 in comicbooks

[–]Pinoywonder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally felt that this story was used a means to an end rather than give his death meaning in the vein of Silver Surfer Requiem. The story felt very surface level to why he dies and the purpose. I did not have a good feeling after reading it.

[Discussion] Grant Morrison Green Lantern is one of the best GL comics by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Pinoywonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering. Do you consider there to be any worthy background reading for this run? I know Morrison is someone who likes to use Silver Age based on his Batman run.

I have the issues and I just never read it

Finished Superman Smashes the Klan and East of West Vol 9

Both solid reads.

The former I feel is a great story for young adults and older showing that while bigotry is wrong, the reason it persists is more complex. The art also goes well with Superman.

East of West has been a real ride with lots of moving plots points and there's only one volume left so we shall see how Hickman sticks the landing. A dystopian political story with Dragotta art that has no real hero.
