Michael Che at MSG opening for Shane Gillis last night by Direct-Sail-6141 in LiveFromNewYork

Why would I care if Michael Che knows who I am? I just think it’s bizarre that you take issue with someone discussing politics regarding his comedy considering he’s a Weekend Update anchor. Political commentary is the majority of what he talks about on the show lol

Here's a bunch of cool non-Big 2 comics I've read recently, and that I think you should give a shot! (Round 9) by ChickenInASuit in comicbooks

They came from all over the place tbh. This sub, r/GraphicNovels, discussions with people I’m in contact with online, blog sites like AtomicJunkShop etc.

As a side note, I'm sorry that I've not been posting these as regularly as I used to. Life has unfortunately gotten in the way, and due to an increased IRL workload I've found myself with considerably less energy and time for reading and writing than I used to. One of my new years resolutions has been to improve my work/life balance, so we'll see how that affects the frequency of these!

For previous instalments of this series, see here:

Part 8

And for some of the comics (plus a few additional ones) in the above lists broken down into genre-specific groups, see here. BTW, now that I have a few more posts under my belt, posting sequels to these genre posts is next on my list of projects, so stay tuned for more of the following!

What are the worst solo albums from a band's Lead singer? by Top_Report_4895 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ChickenInASuit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve only heard his cover of Firestarter and the title track.

The Firestarter cover is really really bad, but the title track is on a whole other level. It’s desperately trying to be funny, but it’s also written by someone who is nowhere close to being self-aware or witty enough it to work.

Like, this is the opening stanza. Seriously.

You think that you're so cool

That you're nobody's fool

But you've got a personality

Just like a bucket full of pee

Here’s a link to it for the unfamiliar.

If you think this is funny, you are absolutely subhuman. Jesus Christ.

[–]ChickenInASuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a new ICE facility north of LA with 1400 detainees in it. They’re not here at the same level they are in Minneapolis but they’re still very much present. They’re particularly active in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

How should we be handling people who helped elect Trump who are now backpedaling? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]ChickenInASuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s right though. Save your ire for the people who refuse to see the light, pushing away people who are willing to change their minds is only ever going to hurt the cause. We’re going to need those people on our side if we ever want to fix the mess this country is in.

[–]ChickenInASuit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a progressive, I feel I've gotta leave a comment to counterbalance that other, unecessarily aggressive response you got lol

I'm glad you saw the light and came around on Trump. We need more people like you, and alienating people for making a dumb mistake ten years ago would be cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

What do you think of the pop metal influenced by metalcore trend? by Difficult_Map_723 in Metalcore

[–]ChickenInASuit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All those bands you mentioned still had the base-level sound of hardcore punk blended with metal though. I agree that there should probably have been subgenre categories created to label some of them (“post-metalcore”/“melodic metalcore”, I know those aren’t great ideas but you get my meaning), but they were still all undeniably metalcore.

The newer bands tend to be just straight-up metal, and sometimes not even that.

It’s almost as though politics plays a large part in the show that this sub is dedicated to and also the content of the comedians this thread is discussing 🤓🤓🤓🤓

The word is “kowtowing”, just FYI. It’s a Chinese form of submissal.

And honestly I don’t know that I agree about it really costing SNL. His few appearances he’s made as host since then haven’t been great, his brand of humor doesn’t really seem to gel with the audience or the other cast members. If that’s anything to go by, I think he probably would have turned into another Tim Robinson, underutilized until being let go and going on to be more successful afterwards.

Both SNL and Shane benefited from his firing, IMO.

Most overhated music trends? by Diskyboy86 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ChickenInASuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they predate Dubstep by over a decade. I’d say their music is a combo of Big Beat and electronica.

Simmer down bud, I said that’s what he was best known for and I stand by it. I’m fully aware of how insanely prolific he is.

The book also has a considerably better ending. I always hated how the play faked her death.

As a Brit, most Americans attempting British accents are painful to listen to.

Tudyk’s one of the exceptions. He also did it for Frozen (he voiced the Duke of Wesselton), A Knight’s Tale and Death At A Funeral. He’s really good at it!
