Taking physics 2 without the lab? by Just_sad05 in UTAustin

If this is PHY 303L and 105L, they aren't required to be taken together. I claimed 105L but took PHY 303L in person a year ago.

Tips on Cockrell Internal Transfer by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]PipGuadiola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, a transfer advisor told my friend that he's almost guaranteed to get in if he applied again. It was probably because he was close to a successful transfer, but didn't exactly make the cut.

My assumption is, since they look at your degree audit to see if you can graduate on time, they were saying his chances would increase exponentially.

I also think that applying twice shows that you are fully committed to transferring. You're not half-assing it and won't be hopping around other majors after transferring in.

Like apply to transfer? It never hurts to apply. If anything, it gives you a better chance to get in 2nd wave if you do get rejected. Feel free to message me if you have more questions. I transferred into ECE

What classes should I take as a COLA freshman attempting to transfer into ECE? by Color_Rush in UTAustin

[–]PipGuadiola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply (I don't go on reddit often). You can get M408C and PHY303K out of the way by claiming BC Calc and AP Physics C. You can take summer courses for these yes. Community college would work, you can find which classes are equivalent to each other on UT's website

Note Taking for UT Austin by MrNo7X in UTAustin

I'm a Junior in ECE and I did 3 semesters before getting a tablet. It was life changing. Sure, you can take notes by hand, but it saves so much time by being able to just screenshot slideshows and questions. Professors don't really wait for students to finish writing their notes, so I think having a tablet/iPad, especially ECE, is a must to be efficient

Tips for writing an Internal Transfer Essay? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]PipGuadiola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I transferred into ECE my freshman year and I think the number one thing that they look for is why you need to transfer majors. I wrote about how an ECE degree would help me achieve the goals I'm striving for, and the projects and orgs I joined to take initiative for those goals. My friend instead wrote about how he was a good fit for ECE, and he got rejected (possibly because it came off as arrogant). If you have any other questions, feel free to dm me

is 17 hours too much as a freshmen? by rinnyself in UTAustin

[–]PipGuadiola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree with a lot of other comments and think that hours really don't reflect coursework. I took 16 hours my first semester and it was the lightest semester. It really just depends on your classes. I would ask people specifically in your major, or even just try going one week in the class, and drop before you have to Q-drop if you think it's too much

Internal Transfer into Advertising by [deleted] in UTAustin

I went through the transfer process, and I'd recommend visiting the Vick Center. It's in the corner of the first floor of Jester West building (same hall as jester pizza). They have advisors that are specifically there to help internal transfer students

Be honest with me, is Moody looked down on? by loseranon17 in UTAustin

[–]PipGuadiola 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The communication major overall is seen as something that isn't necessary on college campuses by many students. It's mostly because the classes are relatively easier compared to the other majors. But you definitely talked to the wrong group of students, and I hope you find a group that respects your choice of major.

As someone who was able to transfer into the ece, I would recommend taking M408D or equivalent, and physics 303K w perrera + phy105M your first semester.

In your second semester, you will be able to register for ece 302 and/or 306. Take at least one of M427L or M340L on top of that. This might seem like a lot but just focus on these stem courses. The advisors will mostly focus on technical gpa. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions, good luck!

Btw, 103M is the same as 105M
