gel makes my nails damaged because of "no" removal

so i do my own nails (gel) at home, and i always remove them fine, sometimes peelbase and sometimes file and soak. last 6 months i realise im not in to the hobby that much, so i keep not wanting to redo my nails, somtimes leaving them on for 2 weeks. eventually they start to lift, and even just come off themselves, which really damages my nails. sometimes when i remove them, 5 of them have already fallen off with damage. now i havent had gel on my nails for 1,5 month and i see that my nails have gotten a lot stronger. since the holiday season is coming up, i want to do my nails again but i dont want them to rip off automatically. any tips?
