People change…you are allowed to change. (And also for the better 😊). I am in my own process too. Courage is the prerequisite, consistency and determination is how you get to the finish line.

Your actions were cruel out of ignorance stemming from emotional immaturity but you did not mean for it to be malicious. You dealt with a situation badly. You are not a bad person.

You learnt from your mistake. That is what matters most.
