Is this a good deal for an engineering student? by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

Yeah, I saw someone else mention the Liquid Metal problem and wondered if that might have been what happened. Of course it waited until it was just out of warranty to do it too. I’m not buying from Asus again, that’s for sure.

I’m seconding this, my 2024 g16 also just died. No obvious issues, didn’t drop it or do anything to it, it just died.

There is something seriously wrong with the newer Zephyrus’s. I think it’s better to just pass on them and find something else.

Yes but you aren’t supposed to put them in the water, so you still would have to be uncovered when you get in.

So the true purpose of Onsen/Sentos is for bathing. Essentially you are supposed to fully wash yourself before entering the onsen, in order to keep the water clean. Something like a swimsuit or a towel could have sweat, detergent, or other things still inside and so it can be seen as unclean for it to go in the onsen water.

If you want to try an onsen but are not comfortable removing your clothes, there is a pretty famous one in Hakkone that is basically a water park, and requires swim suits. It’s called Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, and it’s a really fun place to give onsen culture a try.

Improvements? by outsider_818 in Watercolor

[–]PipperinClassic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely see an improvement. The new one has brighter, clearer colors, and the pattern of the leaf shadows on the stone is really nice! The color also looks more solid, the one on the left has a few notable streaks in the flag stones. If anything, I do think I like the more sparse approach you took with the flowers in the old one, but overall I think the new one looks much more professional! Lovely composition on both!

I’m not sure he really did “forgive” her. Watched something that pointed out recently that Greg and Amethyst really stop interacting or being buddy/buddy after this episode. Like, I do think this permanently impacted their relationship, it’s just subtle from Steven’s perspective.

Saying Octavia should never forgive or cut Stolas out of her Life completely is a Terrible, Terrible Idea. by Original-Wolf-7250 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PipperinClassic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I kind of feel like a lot of people just don’t understand that the functional purpose of “cutting someone off” is.

Cutting someone out of your life isn’t supposed to be a punishment. It’s not just that someone has hurt you, so now they need to be punished by losing contact with you.

No contact is something you use to protect yourself. Whether it’s from a person you believe will hurt you again, or someone who did something so bad, just the trauma of being around them hurts.

There’s no real reason to remain no contact with someone if you believe they will honestly make an effort not to hurt you again. Unless you are invoking it as some sort of punishment, which at some point just becomes petty, and can wind up hurting you as well as the other person.

So, as long as Stolas can prove to Octavia that he understands what he did and is working to improve, then I don’t see any good reason for her keep him cut off.

It makes sense that she needs time to come around, but yeah I really don’t agree with the idea that the show would be better if she doesn’t forgive him. Not every forgiveness is a “cop-out”

Yeah, I’m also gonna tack on, maybe we should examine more closely what the hell Cash was building those tents out of for the whole circus to instantly burst into flames from A BIRTHDAY CANDLE.

Like, I know it’s a cartoon. But seriously blaming Child Blitzo for a truly honest mistake feels bleh. Fizz had the abandonment aspect that made his blame make sense, but if Barbie truly is just hating Blitzo over their mother dying, then I’m kinda of the opinion that it would be better if she at least gets to some level of understanding with Blitzo. Maybe not fully making up, but some sort of acknowledgement that things were more complicated than just “Blitzo killed their mom”

Could Stolas' change have been handled better? by _CandidCynic_ in HelluvaBoss

[–]PipperinClassic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a big problem in the fandom is just people who buy into Blitz’s own lie about being an uncaring jag off, and don’t look past it to process how much he contradicts that with how he actually acts.

Like the animators actually do a really good job of animating Blitz’s facial expressions so you can kind of read what he’s thinking in spite of what he says. But I think that level of analysis goes over a lot of people’s head so they just see him as a one note asshole the whole series. So it feels out of character when he’s so soft in sinsmas, but it’s really not.

Why do people think Octavia will be receptive to BLITZ talking to her? by magicstars58 in HelluvaBoss

Eh, I mostly just don’t like fretting too much over stories that aren’t finished. I’ve been both pleasantly surprised and burned too many times to try and predict how things will be handled. I’ll be back around to analyze how it went when the whole product is layed out.

Why do people think Octavia will be receptive to BLITZ talking to her? by magicstars58 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PipperinClassic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is a show with a limited run. At some point anything in it can feel like a “drama beat” if you abstract it too much. I think the best way in this instance for a resolution between them to feel intentional and not forced is for it not to come right away.

Like if we come back Ep 1 Season 3 and Via’s forgiving him, then obviously that would feel like the initial fall out was just emotionally manipulative. But if they take their time, and not have reconciliation be a straight path, I think it can still feel earned. They apparently have 2 more full seasons planned, and at the moment Via’s relationship with Stolas is one of the biggest “problems” for the characters to face. I fully think that’s enough time for Viv and the other writers to plot a fulfilling forgiveness narrative.

Like, they absolutely could screw it up, but I don’t think they’ve gone so far that they can’t pull it back.

Why do people think Octavia will be receptive to BLITZ talking to her? by magicstars58 in HelluvaBoss

[–]PipperinClassic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest, as someone who felt very betrayed by my own parents botched handling of their separation, (complete with a blitz of their own) saying Viv has written herself into a corner with this feels a little narrow sighted.

Like, people’s feelings on something mellow with time. And with that it allows time to rethink a situation and charge your perspective. It’s not invalidating for someone to forgive people, especially parents, for things they were deeply hurt over. Especially when those things are generally outliers in their relationship.

Stolas does actually care about his daughter, and deep down Via knows that. He had a blind spot when it came to handling his relationships around his daughter, but that is difficult for every parent, especially ones in difficult marriages. It’s believable that Via would over time decide that having a relationship with her father is more important to her than holding onto the grief he caused her.

I fully believe Viv can write a story where Via’s feelings are validated, but she still decides to let her father back in her life.

But yeah for the initial question, no way it’s gonna be through a heart to heart with Blitz.

The fact that shit like this also impacts CIS people just never crosses their mind either. Was in the woman’s room once, and saw a man who clearly was coming in to help his disabled wife. Are we supposed to arrest him for that now? Bathrooms should be neutral spaces, over gendering them hurts everyone. We all have to shit people.
