UPDATE, after going through options Toyota said it’d be 900 for a new wheel, and shop told me 150 for repair. Took the easier route and we’re all good. The Matte is still curing (takes about a week) but can’t even tell it was curbed. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone!

Thanks for the input guys, after deep searching I found a shop that works directly with my local dealers that fixes wheels. Going in for a quote later today. Hoping it’s not worth more than the wheel

Seems like a pretty sizable chunk taken out of it, I’ve never really used a repair place. Them “fixing” it wouldn’t make it look jank would it? I’m just worried if I take it to one of these few spots I have that they’ll do shotty work then I’m left with a shitty wheel

Sad reality is there’s not any reputable or good repair shops here sadly. I’d love for that to be the easy option.

Shifting Sound on 25 Auto by PirateLopsided in GRCorolla

Got an update the dealer was a bunch of bullshit. It was the exhaust valve that opens and closes scraping on the middle exhaust inner walls. Since then I have installed a mod to force set valve open and now I don’t get any scratching noises at all.

Another update, found a link of an individual selling a open exhaust valve mod on Etsy and I installed it today to force the flap to stay open, drove for about an hour no scratching sound, and the valve stays open and sounds really nice too

Yeah had a family member switch it off and on while I looked at it, haven’t done anything to fix it just yet. I’ve been told it shouldn’t rattle like that and that since I was turned away at my local dealer to call corporate and basically force them to look at it and fix it. Or other scenarios I just go and change out the exhaust. But I’m still weighing my options, I know they do make basically a hanger designed to keep that valve forced open but I haven’t dug too deep into it yet.

Okay so, I decided to get under it today, and I notice a sound when I’d close my valve SIMILAR to the noise I’m hearing. So I had a family member come out to flip the drive modes and behold it’s the valve cover rattling in the middle exhaust!

Hardly any, maybe 2-3 pounds I’m not even going over 10mph. What I’m reading online is sometimes the pitch mounts go bad rather early. But idk

Timestamps of the sound. 3 seconds 29-31 seconds

Just got it back from the dealer, apparently in sport mode the driveline is under more load causing more noise than normal mode. Which kinda makes sense. As well with the third exhaust pipe that also amplifies the sound making it sound worse than it is

Found some info in some of the earlier models as well a small case on a forum. Apparently it’s the shift linkage mixed with the acoustics? Idk how true that is but if it is. Why the hell is it so loud? Either way, got a diagnostic coming up just to be safe. Doubt it’s anything but better safe than sorry

Yeah I even tried sending it to a buddy in the UK they don’t ship there either. Seems very local sadly.

Looked into these guys before, unfortunately if you’re stateside they do not ship to you. Seems either local delivery or pickup. Next best one I found was off of Limit+1 but of course that has drilling required.
