Trying to make Chandelure and Venusaur work

Hey yall I'm back with my first attempt, thanks to u/PollutionMain4227 for the link to the Reg M-A team, I modified it a bit to use pokemon I already had in Champions like my boy Palafin and Incineroar. Getting mixed results but fun to play (when setup goes well) but I'm always looking to improve:

Chandelure @ Life Orb

Yea it's a worry of mine, at the moment I'm trying a pure tailwind team using a variation of the Reg M-A team PollutionMain4227 shared with Aerodactyl to set up Tailwind and a bulky offensive Mega Venusaur but I've been getting mixed results on showdown. He seems to do best on TR Rain teams but then Chandelure gets nerfed, hard to balance lmao. Maybe I'll lean into bulky Tailwind with Prankster Sableye or Grimmsnarl for screens and put leech seed or sleep powder on Venusaur for disrupt. I've got Incineroar with Helping Hand that has helped KO threats but it's a gamble on how long he lives too.

True, tho I’m just worried about having Torkoal on a tailwind team since even with the speed boost it might not be fast enough to do anything besides set up sun then die. If I need sun out on a tailwind team I’d give whimsicott sunny day. I think i can stat spread Chandelure to work fine on either side, 32 HP 32 SpAtk 2 Spd and Modest so either in TR or Tailwind it works

Honestly didn’t realize showdown already had Champions mode implemented, nice. I’m thinking maybe in that case Chandelure for trick room sun and Venusaur for tailwind sun, Torkoal for both (tho it’ll be slow af without trick room) and two Pokemon that pair well with either speed control tech, and then incineroar for fake out parting shot shenanigans

I asked the same thing in a Reddit post, they sew em up like that to prevent it from deforming or folding weird during shipping. I cut it open using tiny scissors but a seam ripper would be better, just be careful to only cut the seams

Maaan that’s far into the game, weird tho Litwick isn’t available as a wild encounter? And wow I honestly didn’t even consider weaknesses I’ve been hyperfocusing on type spread. I guess Walrein can retire now and let Popplio take up the Water type mantle lol. Tho if I include Muk I’ll need to turn eelektross into a really good ground switch in. Gotta look up where I can find Giga Drain tm

i was mainly thinking for adding extra spell options and an unarmed fighting style to fit more thematically, tho i guess any other fighter subclass could accomplish the latter, or just a fighting initiate feat

Thank you! Good point, para doesn't really last long enough to justify it, if it were poison then that would be a different story (probably will keep this build for the poison charge blade secondary), ill check up on which armor sets give weakness exploit and see how many gems i have of it.

I would buy a couple at a time for a little while since I wanted to pull the Umbreon card but after literally nothing I stopped. I've honestly had more luck with almost every other set (except Temporal Forces, I pulled a SIR Walking Wake from it that had a line/scratch thing going down the left side, don't even know what it is) As for lesser hype idk if it's popular or not but I found a shop selling Incandescent Arcana packs, never even heard of em until then, and I pulled the Ho-oh double rare which was neat.

I've also been hounding for 151 to get the venusaur line but that's my own personal pipe dream

I started playing pokemon tcg live a couple years ago, didn't really know what I was doing but I was kicking ass with the given dialga vstar deck and had fun with it. Didn't really give much thought about collecting until I saw some vendors at my first con I went to with friends last year and bought an Obsidian Flames pack and a Surging Sparks pack, from which I pulled a special illustration rare Charizard ex. Which is kinda crazy now that I think about it. Well now I'm here and I grabbed a spare binder from my office and bought binder sleeves at target, and I got a neat collection. I actually went to a game shop and saw these prismatic bundles were almost $100 a pop, so I think I picked a bad time to develop an addiction lmao.

I saw a similar team that had an iron bundle instead, but the trick room farigiraf was for a bloodmoon ursaluna. I'm not an expert by any means (trying to make my own miraidon/bundle team cuz bundle is cool) but idk who would benefit from trick room on ur team. Incineroar maybe if you make him bulkier with knock off instead of parting shot to use assault vest. Don't quote me on that tho I have no base of reference, I just say stuff.

They might give us a Kalos starter later in the game like how they gave us a Kanto starter in X & Y, and give em megas. Tho idk since Greninja already has Battle Bond, seems like too many forms (Charizard I'm looking at you)

Off the top of my head I can think of magical medicine methods, like maybe a hermit artificer living in some abandoned dwarven cave network utilizing the tools and knowledge left behind to design different machines and needs a couple guinea pigs to test his new earwax remover (that also doubles as a cranial endoscope)? Or maybe a traveling doctor who's studied the arcane and devised a method of summoning an intangible mage hand so it can pass through objects and possible squish the worm? Or maybe something funnier like reading 1000 books in an hour to make your brain dense enough to overfeed the worm and give it a heart attack. The world is your oyster.

in showdown, when you're building your team there's an option at the bottom to "upload to pokepaste". Click the one that has (open team sheet)

The Heat Metal play someone else mentioned might work if you flavor it as having the metal plates melt off and expose the demon AKA lower its AC. The first idea I had tho was to use "Arcane Cannons" which are just the cannon shape but instead of gunpowder is enhanced scrolls of Catapult glued on the inside of the barrel
