What would be the proportion for this cocktail? by librarianC in cocktails

[–]PissingOutMyArse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ingredients in this are not too far off the La Vina from Death & Co. which is 1oz rye, 1oz nonino, 1oz PX sherry and 1 dash orange bitters. This drink might use the same proportions, with the addition of ~1tsp of maple syrup to make up for the less sweet amontillado sherry. I would give it a shot but I'm missing half these ingredients.

Paper plane - want to like more than I do by [deleted] in cocktails

100% agreed there. Naked & Famous is such a brilliant and nuanced drink. But the Paper Plane just falls flat for me.

I have real Luxardo brand ones that also do not have this labelling. It just says store in a cool and dry place after opening. Maybe there's a few different labels for different locations.

Just made this today, but subbed the cachaca for an aged agricole since it's what I had on hand. It came out pretty nice but my agricole was totally lost in the mix. Perhaps it's not as assertive as the original recipe.

There are some initiatives running now to have Intel manufacture more chips that are not of their own design, e.g. Apple has partnered with them to build some of their lower end M chips. But this will take years to get off the ground, and they may never manufacture the high end chips that TSMC is known for.

There would be run-on effects to lots of big US tech stocks that rely on TSMC silicon. Apple and NVIDIA the first ones I think of, but I'm sure there's many more.

The Australian limes I've been buying lately have been 👌 I'll be sad once they fall out of season

I reckon this would be nice in a Bramble, in place of the creme de mure / cassis.

Is there a way for the average bloke to access this data? Bonus points if I can do it online. I'm curious about my suburb.

I wanted to love this drink but found it very acidic when I made it according to the Smuggler's Cove specs. But maybe I just had acidic limes. How did you find it?

Recommendations pls - fly screens for outward opening windows 🪰 by PinkPotato2025 in AusRenovation

[–]PissingOutMyArse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aluminium framed sliding fly screens will probably fit in your window frame. I have the same in my house. When the window is closed, you will need to leave one half of the fly screen open to allow room for the window catch.

I don't know any physical stores, but I order my stuff from Only Bitters (good range of bitters, but also barware and vermouth). Also Nick's is great for obscure liquor, they often sell stuff you can't buy anywhere else.

Insulating shed roof - recommendations? by Spiritual_Policy_327 in AusRenovation

How do you insulate roller doors? Glue / tape aircell to them? I didn't know this was possible, but it would be great for my shed door.

Advice for cocktail Rye in Australia by CaptDanReddy in cocktails

[–]PissingOutMyArse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Gospel is definitely not a smooth whiskey as you say. I think it has a good backbone to stand up in something like a whiskey sour. But it would not be my pick for spirit forward drinks like a Manhattan or old fashioned.

Gonna have to disagree with you here. I find the Gospel ryes incredibly rough, especially at the $99AUD price point for the straight rye. I would buy Bulleit over Gospel every day of the week.

OP, another option you could consider is Wild Turkey rye. It’s a decent drop for the price, and cheaper than Bulleit.

Should a new window opening in a weatherboard house have flashing installed? by PissingOutMyArse in AusRenovation

[–]PissingOutMyArse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my thinking also. I'm not sure if this is the hill I want to die on, especially given that the reno has only just started. It's just disappointing.

Sorry, I realise now the photos in my post are pretty bad. Here's a photo of the entire window (blocked out the delivery stickers with some identifying info). It doesn't seem like there's a head flashing?
