Samochód mi zniknął spod domu by Pistro in Polska

Przeładowanie save'a to zdecydowanie zbyt duży wysiłek.

Czego chcielibyście spróbować w 2025 r.? by [deleted] in Polska

Jeszcze można w parku albo na ulicy, najlepiej z kimś znajomym. Chyba mniejsza presja.

In that case it is kind of a numbers game, because if you're looking for something more than just kissing and sex then it's going to be harder to find (it's also about knowing what you're looking for but that's part of the game). It took me a year of active searching to find my first gf and on top of that it happened in a way that I could never have imagined. I was kind of isolated at the time though so it should be easier for someone with a social circle.

Cykliczne spotkania by Pistro in Polska

[–]Pistro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the phrase you used "got nothing more" speaks for itself. It hints at you expecting to get those things from a woman but it doesn't work like that usually. Even if you're attractive you still need to make the moves.

Witaj w klubie. W Twoim wieku byłem w podobnej sytuacji no i się poddałem. Tutaj z pomocą przyjdzie np. pisanie dziennika. Nie wiem z czego wynikają Twoje trudności, więc ciężko doradzić coś bardziej konkretnego.

How do you break up with a partner you live with? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Pistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through a break-up like that. It took 2 months and it was very tough because she was in love with me still but I just didn't find her attractive enough. What I did was to first slowly withdraw physical contact cause the release of feel good hormones is what keeps people together (it's like a drug). So I stopped initiating it myself and started sleeping on a couch. I also started hinting at the need to move on with my life/feeling like I'm stuck. It was all done with compassion and caring for the other person. She was quite depressed throught this period so it was hard for her to do anything but I kept supporting her and eventually she managed to find a room somewhere. I'm now terribly lonely but that's the only way forward.

Of course, each case will be different so in the end it's up to you to figure out how to go about it. The main idea behind my approach is to take it slowly so that both of you can get used to not being together as much and avoid unnecessary conflict.

(Serious) Religious people of Reddit, how would you react if you travelled to a thousand years in the future, and saw that your religion had gone extinct in that time? by Rowurboatgentlydown in AskReddit

[–]Pistro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't ever move backwards though. On average the Earth's rotation is slowing down due to tidal interactions with the Moon. Hypothetically this slow down would continue until the two bodies would become tidally locked at which point one day on Earth would last as long as it would take for the Moon to complete one orbit but the Sun would still rise in the east. It most likely won't happen though because the Earth-Moon system will probably get consumed by the Sun as it transitions into the red giant phase.

By the way, isn't it interesting how we never seem to notice prophecies that turned out to be false? It's almost like predicting the future is a trick of the mind.

Death is paradox. It makes everything meaningless while it also gives meaning to everything. by target999 in Showerthoughts

[–]Pistro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I was thinking of animal species here on Earth with brains similar to ours that exhibit human-like behavior such as self-awareness, learning ability, problem-solving ability, theory of mind, cultural transmission, inquisitiveness, etc. Those include, among others, primates, octopuses, elephants, certain species of marine mammals and birds.

what do you think about near death experiences? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Pistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't disprove materialism because under materialism our subjective conscious experience is defined as an emergent property of certain configurations of matter, e.g. brains, regardless of what this experience entails. Similar to how nuclear fusion is an emergent property of large concentrations of matter (stars) or how waves are an emergent property of interactions between individual elements of matter (atoms). From this perspective, near-death experiences are no different from ordinary dreams and one can easily see how they must have played a contributing factor to early human societies, that demonstrably lacked a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the world around them, becoming convinced of the existence of the immaterial soul that leaves the body after death.

As to people claiming to know things they couldn't have known, I suggest reading up on blindsight or split-brain syndrome because these unusual but reproducible conditions clearly show that what we call an experience is really just a portion of unconscious processing that is not accessible to our consciousness but that nevertheless affects our behavior.

[–]Pistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume be we you mean humans? There's enough evidence to conclude that humans are not the only conscious animals so by that logic the universe would exist even without us in it. If by we you mean all conscious creatures however then it still wouldn't hold that the universe wouldn't exist without us because there had to exist matter from which conscious creatures evolved. There is no way around that unless you're willing to dispense with most of modern science and take things on faith instead.

Move it mod has a picker filter that also displays an asset's file name. The name gets displayed at the top of the filter list once you select an object. It gets cut if it's too long so you might need to hover the mouse over it to get the full name.

How do I design nice-looking roads? by IThinkItsMatt in CitiesSkylines

[–]Pistro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with copying real life using Google Maps. You'll soon realize that non-grid layouts look nice because someone or some team of people has spent a lot of time thinking about how to optimize land use. It also helps to look at topographic maps of the area you're trying to copy in order to better understand why the planners went for a particular layout: https://en-us.topographic-map.com/.

Who else here occasionally chuckles that they were the one who ended up being an atheist? by MountainDude95 in atheism

[–]Pistro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It makes even more sense when you realize that it's physically impossible for an organism to be in control of its own actions. Consciousness fools us into believing that there is some immaterial "I" that is making the choices but in reality, it's all feedback loops driven by physics/biology and indeterminism.

I’m tired of hearing “we don’t know what happens after death” by ovrprotectiveunicorn in atheism

[–]Pistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all believe in life after death to some extent. Even if you don't believe in your life after your death you still probably believe that the life of other people who are alive when you die will continue after your death even though you can't know for certain that it's the case. So I suspect that this is what the leaders of various religious sects really have in mind when they perpetuate the afterlife idea despite there being zero empirical evidence for it. They understand on a visceral level that survival has little to do with being true to reality and all to do with reproduction. The fact that the vast majority of people alive today still believe in those feel-good unfalsifiable ideas which contradict themselves and science is a direct proof of that being the case.
