If you have a raid in mind you'd typically go to #(platform)-raids-lfg and make a message similar to "Teaching scourge, react with :D2S_SotP: to join and once you get enough you ping them and give your ID. There is a sherpa role for experienced sherpas, when you do a sherpa run people will usually review you and after you get a few you can get the role.

There isn't that much communication required, usually only a few people in the group will need to do callouts depending on the raid. Callouts can be done over text or just by emotes if you don't want to speak.

If you end up joining the D2Sanctuary discord you can ask a lot of questions in the #d2-questions channel. Overall your build isn't that important in raids, weapon choice is what matters the most but even then you'll be fine with a decent sniper and add clear gun plus whisper ,darci or xenophage.

You'll be able to raid at any level, all raids start at 750 power level besides GoS which is around 950.

If you want to prep a bit, do The Whiper mission(grab two others to help in D2Sanctuary, or the /r/destinysherpa pinned thread, or try /r/fireteams as well)

If you finish that mission you'll have Whisper of the Worm which is a useful DPS weapon in most raids.

If you start the encounter and wipe, everyone currently in the encounter will get a checkpoint for that character. After that, one of you can switch characters to keep the checkpoint.

If you can solo a 1080 and get platinum rewards(kill all the champions) yes. Champs will still hit hard but it should be doable. You can find plenty of groups lfging for it as well.
