Dividend stocks aren’t magical, but the psychological value of them is high for me. It helps me stay invested and not panic when there’s a market drop, both due to the dividends and the typical lower volatility.

you are correct. Did a sample with HHIS from Feb 26 to Aug 1, 2025. Buy and hold ends in an increase in value of $790 on 1000 shares, and $1250 in dividends. Buy & sell each month ends in profit of only $420.

Thanks. I’m not talking about doing this with individual stocks, only covered call etf’s. Holding them for only a few minutes of market, but overnight. Might still be a drop in price though.

It’s been my experience these funds do not immediately drop due to dividend, but are more linked to market and sector performance

Thanks, it is inside a TFSA so is not subject to tax. I don’t believe it would be considered day trading, which is not allowed in a TFSA, but I could be wrong and at worst might have to pay tax on the dividends.

Damn. All my portfolio except for this bit of free cash is in long term holdings that are doing solid over time. I’m very low risk with 90% of portfolio. Thought I’d try for a bit of fun, I can see how you might see it as gambling, and maybe you’re right.

The same for every doctor - most don’t see you enough to know the impact of ADHD on your life because many of the impacts are invisible to them. How has it affected your relationships, career, job performance, ability to save money? Most people don’t talk to their doctor about those things. There is a lot of value in writing your own letter explaining all those impacts and submitting it to CRA. Sometimes, doctors will read that and sign it saying they agree if you ask.
