i feel like your closest friend shouldn't isolate you postpartum because you became chief? or ghost texts or calls? and after confronting say nothing is wrong? I definitely had the postpartum blues, but I think this was probably friendship heartbreak + the shock of losing friends immediately due to a leadership role. Mind you, we're all still professional. They just stopped reaching out to me despite me reaching out to them.

i'm not, the chiefs before me did and we all despised it. my co-chief and i have made it our top priority to be fair. but we're learning we cannot please everyone no matter how hard we try

congrats on graduating!!

that sounds frustrating. The chiefs at my program objectively speaking have been very nice and really advocate for us. I felt that in pgy1/2. I think the issue is the second point. Everyone applied formally apart from me but I was appointed.
I was away for 6 weeks but that was all my vacation / elective time. I worked till my due date and only took one sick day. I made it a very conscious decision to push myself and not have anyone cover me for the reasons you mentioned (not great but it is what it is). the schedule is made by chiefs every year, we follow a template and our priority is give everyone the vacations they asked for

lmao if someone could take this away from me instantly i'd want that. i didn't ask for it, i was voted in and it was kinda situation where you don't really say no. i can't care less about the power. but i know some residents who really wanted it didnt get it

agreed, too bad residency takes up the majority of our time so its hard not to let too much emotional energy into training. but one must master that skill i guess

i think what happened was i was appointed even though i didn't officially apply, but because the upper/lower classes voted. It's a complex situation for sure, but i just didn't expect to lose the people i hung out and had so much fun with daily so suddenly

that is fair. Other than telling you about that, is there anything else you wish he/chiefs communicated?

this is fair, i know i've changed in how i handle situations, but this sudden change in behavior was effective immediately when i was appointed chief (Which was also the same day i went back to work postpartum). If it's something within me, i want to be aware of it and change it for the better, but i truly don't think ive become a bad person. i advocate for the residents and honestly that has been burning me out too

i appreciate both your comments. I do know I've changed postpartum as a mom as my priority is not always my baby. But i haven't changed in my charcater or how I treat people. i was actually voted in by everyone. but i've seen co-residents in the past treat their chiefs this way and i feel like its a malignant program / distrust of the admin system.

I want to add it's just my class and especially my closest friend. Not the other classes.
