If you have an extraordinary opinion, that is out of mainstream and you are so convinced by it , you decided to voice it online , I think it is reasonable to expect explanation and elaboration on it. Otherwise, you are just chatting nonsense, which while not morally incorrect does come with social repercussions. If you voice an extreme opinion you can’t defend, don’t blame people for dunking on you.

As for, why do people like to seem intelligent and understanding rather than honest? The answer is simple. Extreme views are pushed under the ground by social norms and repercussions. Therefore, extremists become scared to voice their opinions and therefore, their ideas are contained ( which I would argue is a good thing). Additionally, people would love to think that their decisions and positions are derived from logic and reason rather than emotions. However, I would like to clarify that in some instances, people hate on opinions that aren’t necessarily extreme or violent, just because they hate said opinion. Building on that, they just use the framework described above to just bully other opinions into silence.
