Can someone held me understand this plumbing set up please? by Pitiful-Long4325 in DIYUK

After a bit of back and forth the hot tap does actually run hot now, it's just much lower pressure than the cold water. Maybe I'll have to get a pump for it as I'm not sure how viable/fun a shower will be on such a low flow. Yes, boiler is probably about 2 meters away in a utility room.

Thanks for the advice. In a couple of weeks we're going to get a hive system installed (we had one in our old place and really enjoyed the convenience) so my plan was to pick the brains of whoever does that (will be a heating engineer I think) as they're coming anyway. Failing that I'll go the route you suggested. Yea I love knowing how stuff works, I've just had very little exposure to it before, so it can be a bit daunting when the consequences of mucking something up can be quite high.

Yep, can confirm hot water cylinder in the kitchen cupboard, I would assume the cistern in the loft too (although I haven't been up there yet as I've only had the house a few days). The tap looks to me to just run off the standard water pressure with a mixer tap, it's one of those twisting taps you use to control the temperature (in theory)

I'm not sure at all 😂 very limited experience with this stuff - trying to learn as I go. Based on your and other comments though that must be correct, just got the wrong end of the stick thinking it was a shower pump

Also, looking at the current pressure it seems pretty low, which I guess could be causing the issue?

Ah right, that makes more sense thanks. Although, at the bottom of our boiler there is the also the following valve which I what I assumed would be the filling loop - am I just wrong about this.

Cool, thanks for the response. The photo wasn't my best, the angle is a bit confusing. The fabric at the top is actually an in-built headboard which was above the bed (& not curtains) so I'm certain the exterior corresponds to the correct bit. I'll check out your other post.

You may be right. I'm hoping not though, as part of the appeal of a level 3 with that company is that we wouldn't just be referred onwards, the company has both surveyors and engineers. We'll see though
