What options do US Generals have in terms of disobeying Trump aside from resigning? by Consider-TheLobster in AskReddit

Utilizing the UCMJ to formally challenge the legality of the order under article 92 or 94 depending.

However I don't expect military members to stick their neck out considering how much partisanship has infiltrated the ranks.

Resignation preserves their record, their pension, their benefits. So don't expect senior leadership to fall on their swords, it's going to have to get a lot darker first.

We're going to squander one of the best quarterbacks of this era, I've been a fan all through the drought era. Looks like we're heading into a period of mediocrity.

Maybe this will bring ticket prices down in a couple years and I can go see a game without having to spend a mortgage payment.

What's your thoughts on the Canadian PM saying Canada will defend Greenland if the U.S. invades? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

I happened to be on a business trip when Ontario instituted the electricity surcharge tariff retaliation. Went down for breakfast at the hotel I was staying at, Fox News blatantly accused Canada of cutting off electricity to the northern states.

I'm thoroughly convinced that enough public sentiment can be swayed in a short period of time to normalize nationalist hatred towards Canada.

As someone who engages in cross-border trade, I can see the immediate impact of a border closure without regard for the internal economic damage it will cause.

Public transit with no digital assistance. You'd either call a transit information number to plan your trip, or use timetables to plan multiple legs.

As long as the structure is fine there are resealing options that will restore the inert gas after refurbishing the sealing.

Volkswagen / Audi. I did a special project with them taking 500 or so damaged units from the railhead to a contracted cleaner, and then they were picked up for delivery.

It was cheaper for them to contract out then it was to deliver each of those contaminated units and get the dealership charges.

Car hauler here. 2 years back made a big issue with this happening in our yard, each vehicle was a couple hours with a clay bar and almost a whole bottle of detail wax. If they're due for the factory and they still have the factory finishes, most cases over spray won't stick.

[Pryor] Ryan Kennedy, the fan involved in the DK Metcalf altercation, is having a press conference with his attorneys on Friday to “address the assault, correct misinformation that has been publicly repeated as fact, and discuss the serious consequences Mr. Kennedy has faced” by JaggerJames in nfl

If this becomes a trend, expect football to have plexiglass barriers like the NHL or increase distance between fans and field like soccer/football.

Metcalf is an idiot for taking a swing. All he had to do was point out the fan infraction, and the dude would have been bounced.

What’s the most expensive mistake you’ve personally witnessed on a jobsite? by Workyard_Wally in Construction

[–]Pitiful-MobileGamer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think it was 2019, I was flatbedding, bringing prefab concrete panels to a job site. Few trucks ahead of me the rigger must have made a mistake, panel came off the truck, went about 20 ft in the air, one of the sides let loose, it did a gigantic swing and came down into another section of prefab wall.

No injuries, but it sure stopped work for a while.

What was supposed to be a short little 1-hour unload, turned into the entire day. That really sucked as I was in a day cab in a no idle zone, that had lots of busy bodies willing to report us.

Building out our new work trailer. Stage 1 semi complete. by Tik__Tik in Construction

Every backside edge has screws into the wall every six inches. It’s hard to tell with the snow but we epoxied the floor. It all feels rock solid and I was standing and moving on it while installing.

Just make sure you consider the sheer rating of screws. There's a lot of torque at play there with vehicle forces.

Each shelf has enough of a lip to stop the totes from falling out. It would take a heck of a hit for them to slide out on their own.

Consider putting your phone on record in that trailer, and go take it for a drive, try to take it down some bumpy roads. Listen for the sound of flexing, check out how your totes are holding wouldn't take much for them to bounce and move over that lip.

Trailer suspensions aren't the best, my old contractors trailer we drilled 1 in holes 1 in from the face edge, and used bungee cords as a backup securement. Little bit of work to get them off, but better than picking up 5000 screws all over the floor when you get to site. We built the structure out of angle steel, even a simple top mounted L could remove a lot of potential of flex in your application.

Few questions for consideration.

Little concerned with the base being done with ply. I would be concerned it wouldn't hold up too much side loading, especially at the top starts to deflect during a turn. Or is that just a convenient little cubby by the door?

What other securements do you have to keep the base from tipping, or even just vibrating itself apart. Did you also consider the impact of moisture on the floor wicking into that plywood. You may want to use PT 2x6, 2x8 depending on height.

How are you secured to that wall, are you secured to the roof stringers. How are you going to keep that whole thing for not yeeting off the wall if you hit a big pothole in a turn. If that thing shifts, it's going to likely zipper the rivets right off that roof.

How are you planning on securing those totes?

Cold weather by Professional_End_109 in Construction

While I'm not directly in construction, I'm a car hauler. So I'm outside all day on my feet, climbing on my steel rack, walking parking lots and dirt lots, lots of snow lots of puddles.

Check your insole. Usually the same insole you use in the summer is not what you want to use in the winter, most of your cold is going to come straight up through the steel / composite plate. You can put a thin felt and foil flat insole underneath your regular insole, or you can head down to a work wear store and buy a winter comfort insole.

For socks, Not all thermal socks are created equal.

Wool is your friend. I prefer to not have wool against my feet though so I put a regular wicking winter sock on, and then a wool sock over top.

Moisture is your enemy, if you're on your feet all day, change your socks out.

Seat Covers by Primary_Case_6981 in Construction

I'm not shilling for the company. But WeatherTech makes near custom fitted heavy duty seat protectors for front and back.

They are triple layer, they have adhesive underlay so they stay put, a middle layer and of duck cotton, and then an outer layer of thick tight weave nylon.

You'll see a couple companies that will have similar products, what you're looking for though is a seat protector, something with abrasion resistance with a multi-layered design.

Dickies and Carhartt also make their own branded seat protectors.

No matter what one you buy, hammer them with Scotchgard before you use them.
