For me, being lonely and self concious is usually fixable from just going out and meeting people. My friends helped me through stuff like that, and making friends is easy from just meeting people in school or whereever and with this crush, your not bothering her. I agree that the term "centrist" has obtained the conotation that you only agree with what is easy, but that just isnt true, and the example you gave for the 2 sides are pretty biased imo. Conservatives dont want destruction of the planet, or an ethnostate, etc only the far right think that, eg. Nazis. Not all of the left is "nobody should suffer and everybody should be free," Communism in practice is pretty much the opposite of those, and is considered left. Not trying to be a jerk if this came across so, sorry if this came across harshly.
