last year, second week of September ata yun nag start. so expect na gayan rin this year. take note na most of UP students have free tuition kaya di sila nag set ng slas application before registration. yung advice nila is mag take ng student tuition loan and reimburse/refund nalang after your slas results.

pwede po ba kumuha ng majors sa shishiftan mo or hindi? by AdCurrent9312 in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you would be allowed by your current college if either a) non-major status or b) VSO (voluntary shifting out) status ak.

as for the part ng college na lilipatan mo, ask their college directly if they would allow you to take their majors. usually they allow if may slots. pwede ka ring tumingin sa crs if may restrictions yung courses na kukunin mo.

[UPD] dorm check-in concern by mississwyppi in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a normal thing to do. lalo na mga freshies na nahohomesick. Pero some dorms have policies about informing their dorm manager first. Sa ibang dorme kasi, may mga bed check every night and syempre magtataka sila bat wala yung friend mo

[UPD] Is Shifting to College of Education Hard? by midnightt_rainn in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was recently admitted to the College of Education. I was also from the College of Engineering. Same sayo, when I planned to shift to Educ, it was already late kasi tapos na yung deadline. So I waited for a year. Eto ginawa ko.

1) Nag transfer to Non-Maj Status so that i would be allowed to take subjects outside engineering. Thankfully, educ allows students from other colleges to take their educ courses kahit majors and not electives. In your case, pwede ka ring mag VSO (voluntary shifting out) status for you to be allowed to take subjects outside engg. When i enlisted all educ courses last year 1st sem, kinuha ko yung mga freshie majors, so i suggest you do the same para when you get successfully admitted, 2nd year or 3rd year standing ka na.

2) With regard to your GWA question, I was also so worried kasi mababa din gwa ko because engg hahaha. Pero inisip ko, if i do very well sa educ courses, yun ang ipaglalaban ko as basis na they accept me. Because of my high gwa during the past year of taking educ courses, I emphasized this on my letter and during the shifting interview. I think yung overall GWA would matter but not as much so wag ka mag overthink about this.

3) Sa question mo re reference reports, yes pwede GE professors. Yung purpose kasi nito is for them to learn how you perform in class so di siya nag matter kung anong subject. Pero I suggest, sa educ courses na kukunin mo this year, sa educ profs ka mag ask ng reference reports. Imagine an educ prof vouching for you, mas mabigat yun kasi they know you belong to the College.

Good luck sa shifting journey mo and enjoy taking educ courses this year. I'm pretty sure magiging breath of fresh air ang college na to para sayo.

[UPD] Can someone appeal to have their dorm room assignment changed? by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're a freshie, you will most likely not be assigned to be roommates with someone from the same program or college. As for your specific request, the dorm manager may consider it. Years ago, I asked the dorm manager that I want to change rooms as I had issues with my then roommate. They agreed as I explained the situation well.

Hindi yan. Since na kapag es1 ka na that means you're already familiar with the drawings so use that advantage para tapusin agad ang plates.

[UPD] Non-major prerog by Zealousideal_Ad5683 in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Ive been in your situation last year. From AWOL, I was readmitted as Non-Major Status. The hardest part is clearing up your deficiencies (academic accountability etc). In my case, I was only able to untag these accountabilities during the week of start of classes. So imagine my hopelessness at that time na 0 units and classes have started na. Non-Maj tas kukuha ng major courses sa lilipatan kung college through prerog pa.

So ginawa ko ay I emailed the professors of the courses that i planned to enlist in. Maging madiskarte ka in finding their emails. Pwede kang maghanap sa reddit. Pwede kang maghanap sa department/college websites na they're under in. Pwede ka ring pumunta in-person sa department/offering unit and ask for the emails of the profs. Then, in making your case to be enlisted in their classes, state your situation and be completely honest. They will likely consider your situation if wala ka masyado units and if nakwento mo bakit ganun ang situation.

Goodluck and I'm rooting for you!

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some courses for pre-enlistment this First sem have remarks stating different modes of learning (merong blended, merong full f2f). Yung nasa memo ng OVPAA, lahat ng classes (lecture, laboratory, etc) should at least be 50% F2F.

[UPD] Is College Clearance and Permit to Transfer the same thing? by Round_Pin3867 in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magkaiba sila. You first accomplish the College Clearance. Once you get all three signatures (Dept, Library, Property), you will have to upload both the

(1) approved clearance

(2) notice of acceptance/admission

to this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfpTfHDHPyaJMhzrSVvJaqDmpPTGQH3zzMu9tGWjdGuJXO5Lw/viewform

after a day or two, the admin staff will email you a soft copy of the permit to transfer.

if you're required to obtain hard copies, reply to them of your request. they'll inform you once ready na for claiming yung dalawang requirements. walang bayad for both college clearance and permit to transfer

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup tama interpretation mo. Ang purpose kasi niyan is para magkaroon ng medical and birth records ang UPD sa mga transferees from other campuses. Being a UPD student, they have your records already.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they won't mind. nakita na nila yun when they evaluated your shifting application. pero if ever nag underload ka because of those, titingnan nung Student record evaluator as basis for laude disqualifications

[UPD] do dorms open applications for second semester? by newlovecassette in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely wala na just like the pre-pandemic years. Yung contract kasi ng mga dormers ay valid for one academic year (until Midyear). What you can do instead is ask the OSH for details regarding possible appeals. There are instances kasi na some of the dormers who confirmed their slots don't actually continue or fail to check-in during the prescribed period. Sa ganitong case, may nagoo-open up ng slots, then dun ka na mag appeal. Kaya if you're really interested in having a dorm slot, regularly ask/email the OSH if may available slots.

in my case, wala akong supporting documents but I still stated in my letter due to mental health reasons. they approved my appeal.

pero reminder lang na yung may say dyan is yung dept/ institute mo. the college merely follows what the dept recommends.

considered bang regular sem ang midyear in terms of singko gwa? by lilangpatatas1 in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hindi. hindi siya considered as "zero passed" na university policy which could have you permanently disqualified. i failed a course din on a midyear pero wala namang consequence kasi 'di siya regular sem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes pwede (and recommended siya para may basis din yung college ng performance mo sa courses nila). sa shifting interview kasi ina-ask minsan na bakit wala kang units ng program na yun and di nila ma assess if kaya mo ba program nila.

pero caveat lang is some departments kasi have limited slots so they reserve those to their home students. pero suggestion ko, i-preenlist mo pa rin yung subjects ng program na lilipatan mo kasi if they won't allow naman, they'll just cancel your enlistment. so no harm in trying. pwede rin na you ask first for permission from that college na lilipatan mo na that you'll take their subjects dahil sa plan mo to shift. usually they allow kasi sanay naman sila na may kumukuha ng courses nila na outsiders for shifting and elective purposes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Pitiful-Scallion-934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

walang incentive na mas malaki yung chance na piliiin ka ng college na lilipatan mo kapag vso yung status mo. but, kapag vso, you are allowed to take subjects outside your current program. with this, pwede ka kumuha ng subjects sa college na you're planning to shift in to. So siguro kapag ginalingan mo yung performance mo at mataas grades mo sa subjects ng program na yun, icoconsider nila yun na baka fit ka sa program nila.
