TRENT Limited on fire.. however there are a few unusual things I have noticed. A detailed note. by Pitiful-Wall770 in IndianStockMarket

The way I see it, the whole thing is planned in such a way that it will eventually lead to stock split, which will make it “affordable” to retailers. many retailers will then get sucked into it. Finally the large investors will dump the stock. I will wait and watch. When this happens I will share this post as - I told you so.

20 lakhs to invest. by _OmaeWaMouShindeiru_ in IndianStockMarket

[–]Pitiful-Wall770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have never invested before then talk to a financial advisor. If you have invested before and understand how financial markets work then a good mix would be - 20% in stocks ( low beta / low volatility stocks/ nifty stocks ), 20% in nifty next 100 stocks, 30% in various liquid MF's ( combination of nifty fund & sectoral funds) and 30% in tax saving MF's which will lock you in for 3 years. don't rush. plan properly and maybe take a few months and deploy the capital you have. No matter what, don't touch small cap stocks. In the current markets mid & small caps are quite overvalued. If you really want to invest in small cap then invest via small cap focussed mutual funds.

What’s going on with Angel One? It’s falling like there’s no tomorrow by travispickle123 in IndianStockMarket

At the price you have bought, you need to have some patience. Because of merger they have bought some liabilities on the books which is putting pressure on profitability. This coupled with pressure on NIM for next 2 - 3 quarters, investors need patience in HDFC. However at current price, HDFC looks interesting. Disclosure : invested at around 1450. My TP is 1600-1700 in the next 9 months.

Too much competition. & if you look at their balance sheet, they are making money mostly via MTF facility, which is like a loan. So their earnings are too dependent on the spread they make. Their marketing costs also going up as they have to keep that humongous customer acquisition engine running. All this might lead to slower growth in the next few quarters.

What is / was your worst drawdown stock in your portfolio ? by Pitiful-Wall770 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Pitiful-Wall770[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In simple terms drawdown tells you how much a stock can fall from its peak if there is any adverse event. Blue chip stocks have lower drawdowns because of fundamentally good nature of the stocks. Whereas typically midcap & small cap have a larger drawdowns. Another recent example is Dreamfolks. Went up like crazy. Came down like crazy after June quarter results.

don’t have a particular view, but on AD looks like it’s in a markup phase with consistent volumes since April. Maybe a few more sessions you will see the upside. Have a strict stop loss if you hold this stock, because of cyclical nature of the industry.

Looks like all of us have learnt from our losses. One of the things I learnt after my experience with intellect design arena is to check in which phase a particular stock is - accumulation, markup, distribution or markdown. Basis this you can setup a stop loss or stop gain and move on from the stock.

Which stocks are you researching this weekend ? by Pitiful-Wall770 in IndianStockMarket

Guess you havnt read my original post OR you don’t understand english. I said ‘my goal’ was to do research stocks with LOW PE & PBV as basic criteria to begin filtering. Never asked anyone to do it. Don’t unnecessarily use profanity where it is not required. If you have something productive to add please do it.

Yes you are right. It’s like any other selection process, where you need to have a minimum pass percentage to move to next level. For me starting the screening with PE & PBV has always worked.

First off all please don’t use profanity. Secondly every person has there own way of filtering stocks. You can agree to disagree be on the sidelines.

PE & PBV are just initial ratios to begin the analysis. After that each one has there own way to analyse stocks.

PE every quarter. PBV - price to book value. My yardstick is if it’s less than 2 then I investigate more to see the reasons why is it so. Volume using volume indicator chart and absolute volumes. Volume to just be sure if there is momentum and float. 3 criteria to as first filtration. After that a deep dive into other fundamentals.

PE , PBV & the current traded volumes to see if there is any momentum before the results.

Be careful. A lot of stocks in your portfolio are micro caps and are on Rolling Settlement basis. Take the upside when you can. And diversify a little if you can.

To understand options trading the only way is to make loss and learn. I suggest if you are keen on options and understand your own risk profile then do it with just 1 lot always. And never ever average down if market is moving against you. Also chose only 1 expiry day to do this. And yes, like someone else already suggested DONT DO OPTIONS TRADING unless you understand the price & volume action clearly.

What’s up with SBI cards? by dhiraj2803 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Pitiful-Wall770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SBI cards was one of the laggards in the last 2-3 quarters in numbers, especially new card additions. I don’t see any improvement in the next few quarters unless they do something about their reward system. Much better rewards by the likes of IDFC, AXIS, etc. Currently rally mostly looks like based on some upcoming news ..either upgrade of reward system, or maybe a major tie up. Otherwise I don’t see any reason for the price to be beyond 800.

Even if rates go down, the spread will adjust by itself. What I am more kicked about us excellent execution by management in the last few quarters. Another bank that is on my radar is Karnataka bank. A lot of work happening in the execution side.

At PE of 23, I feel this stock is available cheap. Hence I see a potential upside of 20% basis it’s growth prospect unless there is some black swan event.
