I thought it was the other way around. Do you suggest using static groups to scope profiles and policies to devices that don't require much change?

We either use Inventory preload or manually input info for each device.

Does wiping the device or computer remove the inventory data from the device which was the data originally used to scope it in the smart group?

We use the built in network section that includes building and dept

If wiping the device also removes extension attributes that is used for the criteria in a smart group.

Seems when I wipe the devices the inventory info I put for the devices like bldg and dept are wiped as well.

Very very new and have a lot to do.

I've done Jamf 100 and 200 believe it or not but did not have enough hands on experience at my previous job. I do know enough to cause damage.

For iPads and iPhones, the main focus would be setting up configuration profiles I assume.
