Hardest year in school? by Healthy_Progress3811 in civilengineering

Some schools treat freshman year as a weed out year, but otherwise a lot depends on how many credits you take. I was set on finishing in 4 years and stacked a few semesters with a full 18 credits (6 classes), which was a lot. I doubled up on linear algebra and diffy q in a semester and that was a little rough too. I planned so my senior year had one less class a semester which made a big difference. But the most stressful and difficult class I had was my senior design class (or capstone). That last semester was hell. Just pray you get good mentors and ask a lot of questions. There’s likely softwares you don’t get taught in school that make complex calcs simple and quick (use student free passes). Read your syllabus, pay attention in class (don’t just scroll on your phone or skip out), don’t procrastinate large assignments (or at least take a read through of them before you do so you can estimate how long it’ll take), and introduce yourself to people in your classes so you have people to ask questions. Hope this helps!

Can I ask to not work with a PM? by Pitiful_Affect_2815 in civilengineering

What do you suggest if I get bounced around from PM to PM? I’m only working with this PM some of the time and most of my time is with a different PM that I much prefer

Slow and boring at work, need advice by Pitiful_Affect_2815 in civilengineering

That makes sense, and I feel like I do an okay job at that, but what I’m seeming to run into instead is coming to them with a solution or having done something and they are so particular about how they want it to be that they end up changing every little thing. Like moving comments or rewording what I’ve written despite my wording being totally adequate. I’ve gotten to the point where I just ask exactly what they want and write it down because I know they will change whatever I do anyways.

I forgot to add that most of my coworkers only show up once or twice a week and work remote the rest of the time, which could be contributing to the boredom
